    Wildfire Nightmare

I've been getting reports from parents and other friends in Colorado, and I've been checking the Daily Camera and Denver Post. Looks like they're getting the ones near Boulder under control, but the one near Estes Park looks really scary. I hope you guys get that forecasted snow!

Help! My cories spawned! What do I do??

The habrosus/pygmaeus fry in the pleco tank is still there. I hadn't seen it for a few days, but I've had several sightings today. No idea if there is only one fry, or if we've been seeing more than one.

    Byron Update

My thoughts are with you, Byron. I miss reading your thoughts on the forum, and your advice has gotten me out of all sorts of newbie fishkeeping trouble. Hopefully the surgery will go well and you will be back on form soon!

Help! My cories spawned! What do I do??

No sightings since early afternoon of the pygmy/habrosus fry in the Hypancistrus tank. The plecos have all been manically racing around, so if it has any sense, it will be hiding. There's quite a few black cory (probably) fry in the fry tank.

Help! My cories spawned! What do I do??

I saw a cory fry in my Hypancistrus tank. The plecos live with eight C. pygmaeus and three C. habrosus. I don't know how many fry there are, as I've never seen eggs. I fear the wee guys will have to survive the plecos and the powerheads on their own. I hope they do.

    Farlowella?

Cool. They're not common in LFS, so finding one might be a faff. The shop near me that gets weird and wonderful obscure species of fish might be able to get their hands on them.

Help! My cories spawned! What do I do??

If I can save my eggs from raphael catfish, you should be able to beat the mollies to them. :) Is my fry tank too deep? It's 29L. I don't know how far up the tiny fry can swim or if they need to be closer to the surface. Picture has Austrian Alpine Club card for scale. @NCaquatics?

Are there any CO-based fishkeeping Facebook groups where you could touch base with other people having the same issues? They might have some ideas as well. This must be widespread across the Front Range.

Help! My cories spawned! What do I do??

What's a 'normal' cory? There's hundreds of species. I don't think pandas are hard to get at all. I've seen them at Pets at Home and at Maidenhead Aquatics.

    Farlowella?

Could a Farlowella live in this tank? @NCaquatics? Anyone else? 125L/33 US gallons. It has three C. habrosus, eight C. pygmaeus, four Hypancistrus furunculus, two bamboo shrimp, and between one and four cherry shrimp. Filtration consists of Oase Filtosmart Thermo 200 and a Fluval U2. I've got...

Why do you think they won't spawn in the 57?
  13. Gypsum

Help! My cories spawned! What do I do??

Your 57 can't possibly be worse for breeding than my 55. I've caught two spawnings (the first, all the eggs got fungus), but admittedly if the corys spawn in the middle of the night or when we're away, there's no chance of eggs surviving.

    Hand Sanitisers & Aquariums?

Oh, so sorry to read this, NCAquatics. When things go wrong in an aquarium, they can go wrong fast. Fingers crossed the rest of your fish survive. It's a sobering reminder to be super careful at the moment.

Help! My cories spawned! What do I do??

Yeah, that's how I introduce any new fish to a tank. Float them in the bag, and add tank water every ten minutes over a period of about forty minutes. My pandas were in my 240L tank, and I was concerned that the raphael catfish bore some responsibility for the untimely demise of a few of them...

If anyone sees my nerite snail, let me know.

Checked the filter and under the lid. Haven't seen it on the floor, but the tank is next to a large sofa. Haven't faced moving the sofa. I'm expecting it to send postcards. "Having a great time in Ibiza. Wish you were here."

Help! My cories spawned! What do I do??

I'm a lot more cautious about buying corydoras that are common in the hobby and overbred commercially. I also had terrible luck with C. trilineatus, which all keeled over one by one over a period of months. I've done much better with either wild caught or marginally less common species. That...

If anyone sees my nerite snail, let me know.

I had one nerite snail living in my apistogramma breeding tank, and it has vanished. I've looked under the caves, poked around the plants, took out the sponge filter. No sign of it, not even an empty shell. I can only presume that it's gone walkabout. There is a gap in the lid, so it's...

Help! My cories spawned! What do I do??

They're just loose in my quarantine tank, which is circa 10g. Some of the eggs are in a half pint glass sitting at the bottom of the tank, some are just around the tank, and some are on a leaf (super puntery at egg collecting). I've got the inbuilt filter running, and I've covered the intake...

LOL. Before I read Koglin's post, I was going to suggest driving to Boulder and going into Aqua Imports. They should have anacharis and hornwort. (I'm originally from Boulder... never bought fish from Aqua Imports, but we've bought snake food from them for many, many years. My parents still...

    He appears again

Beautiful fish. I would have more plecos if I had more tanks. When I had the L260s, I never saw them unless they got disturbed during a water change or I snuck into the living room at night with a headtorch. They were stunning, though. However, I'm a great a fan of these L199s. They're...

    TANK OF THE DEAD.....HELP

Hopefully someone who knows more than me will weigh in. But the thing that jumps out at me from your post is potential overstocking? 80L is not very big. Plecos of any sort (I assume yours are bristlenose?) produce a considerable amount of waste and add a lot to the bioload of a tank. It seems...

    Hard water algae eaters

I got my rabbits for about £3 each at an LFS. They're expensive wee things in Ireland. Of the six nerites I've aquired, I believe three are still alive. I don't think I have the best water for snails. The nerites are more tolerant than rabbits, but I still think it's a bit more acidic than...

    Hard water algae eaters

They're cool. I'd picked up a couple, thinking snails can't be that complicated, but then did some research after acquiring said snails (don't make that mistake) and learned that they require hard water and a PH near 8. I have none of those things. I posted on a local fish group looking for a...

The horse is a Shire-TBX, 27 years old but still in work. So far, no fungus on the eggs. I'll try to get photos of the adults once the light goes on in the tank.

    Bolivian Ram Question

My prior experience involved rehoming one of the rams. I had two, one definitely male, the other too much of a juvenile to sex but probably male, and the older one bullied the younger one until it would sit in the corner of the tank, not eating. I wrote a post here, and Byron told me that the...

It was peeled, but I don't think OH washed it. We grew our own all summer, but growing them in Scotland in the winter isn't going to happen. The bristlenose, at least, has bounced backed to her usual cheery self.

Help! My cories spawned! What do I do??

My black corys spawned today. I moved the eggs to my quarantine tank, which is about 10g. The last time they spawned, the eggs all got fungus, so I'm hoping we get luckier this time, with the help of methylene blue. Luck is all we got, because I have no idea what I'm doing. I collected circa 30...

What are some hard to recreate biotope types in the aquarium hobby?

My old flat wasn't far from Partick Thistle grounds, and I'm not far from Garscube now. Often used the tow path to cycle to the West End (back when pubs were a thing), and when I lived in Maryhill, cycled along the canal into Strathclyde Uni. The Kelvin would be an interesting biotope. Similar...

What are some hard to recreate biotope types in the aquarium hobby?

In every way imaginable. I've lived in Maryhill. For increased authenticity, you would need some needles, crisp packets, vodka bottles, Mad Dog, and drunk person's urine. I've kayaked from Bishopbriggs to Kirkintilloch (lockdown... where else were you going to go?) and saw quite a lot of fish...
