    Pigmy Corydoras

Whether or not fish-in cycling works, Pygmy Corydoras are very delicate fish and an awful one to try this method with. They would probably all die. Please cycle your tank completely before adding these fish. https://www.fishforums.net/threads/cycle-your-tank-a-complete-guide-for-beginners.475055/

    Fish don’t sleep???

I’m planning on getting some pencil fish but I had never heard of this! What does it look like?

What kind of Cory is this?

Lol I didn’t even look at his face! 😂

What kind of Cory is this?

Nice, that’s what i thought but I wasn’t sure! They’re one of my dream species. If cost/availability was never an issue and I could just materialize whatever fish I wanted, this is the Cory species I would pick. They’re close to Pygmy cories but look way cooler, and grow a little bit bigger...

    3D backgrounds too real???

@Magnum Man When you first started your SA cichlid tank, you posted a picture of the tank with nothing but sand and the background on it, and I replied “nice aquascape!” because I literally didn’t realize it was a background

    3D backgrounds too real???

Yeah I never liked backgrounds with fish in them. Then there’s a bunch of fish visually present in the tank that I didn’t put in there!

What’s a fish you wish existed?

Those pictures are messing with my brain, I can’t for the life of me visualize it as a 3-inch fish. They look like large cichlids!

Those are in the same genus as the shelly Neolamprologus? That’s weird

    Loud air pump?

I’m away from home for the week unfortunately and I can’t find the exact model on amazon, but it was just the standard one for the size from Petsmart, I wanna say fluval.

Corydoras have finally been closely analyzed, and...

There actually is some fascinating study into the original pronunciation of Latin! Ecclesiastical Latin is more like Latin with a medieval Italian accent. Classical Latin never turned the letter c/g into an s or ch, it was always /k/. And the -um word ending was probably not pronounced “-oom”...

    Loud air pump?

It does make more noise when it leans against the tank or the wall, but that’s not what’s happening here. Formerly, when it wasn’t touching either of those things, it was pretty much silent; but now it makes noise even when it’s not touching anything. I might try the washcloth just for damping...

Corydoras=Cory Osteogaster=Osty Aspidoras=Aspy They can all be cute!

    Loud air pump?

My air pump for the sponge filter was almost inaudible when I first got it, but after a week it’s making a decent bit of noise. Is there something wrong with it or is that just how they all are? I’m annoyed it started out quiet if it wasn’t gonna be like that to stay. Did I get a lemon?

What’s a fish you wish existed?

OHH WAIT that’s shellies! I know them but I didn’t realize their social structure was that complex. I recognized the name Neolamprologus as a tanganyikan cichlid but I thought it was one of the larger ones.

Interesting… I had heard that name before but I didn’t know that about them!

What’s a fish you wish existed?

That sort of behavior is one of the things that I live about cichlids, and one of the main reasons I wanted to keep them in the first place! Which makes it a little sad that I’ve determined I’m better NOT breeding apistos considering my current infrastructure (getting a single male instead). I...

What’s a fish you wish existed?

I would love to see a fish that’s truly a social creature— like a small nano fish where they either built some sort of hive/nest, or occupied some dense vegetation as their den, and would all pop in and out of it and bring back resources back to the babies inside.

What’s a fish you wish existed?

I just had a dream about a really nice fish— it was tiny, like Pygmy Cory size, square in proportion like an angelfish or a discus, with a gourami antenna-fin-thing sticking down, and it was electric blue with accents of white and pink. It was supposed to be the perfect tank mate for Pygmy Cories.

    Cherry Shrimp and Guppies

If you keep shrimp with fish, some of the shrimp babies will inevitably be eaten. But as long as you provide cover so some can survive, you’ll be fine. A guppy can’t eat an adult Cherry shrimp.

They did, and I removed some water. The sand all fell in in one chunk and splashed the wall.

JackGulley’s South American Tank! (Under Construction)

Aight I have acquired the sand. I’m using Quikrete play sand for those who just tuned in. I put it in a 5 gallon bucket and filled it the rest of the way with water; will wait for the dirt to rise to the top and then drain and refill. I assume that’s how y’all are cleaning it?

Liquid or Strips: Freshwater Test Kit Preference?

Does liquid give a more precise measurement? I use strips, but I’ve been annoyed because my strips’ legend goes straight from zero nitrate (perfect) to 20ppm nitrate (no bueno). I don’t know what the level in my tank really is because any amount of nitrate is going to make it pink, but the...
