    My S-tier Brother:

Talk about timing... yesterday I looked on Shapeways to see if anyone had created food-grade printed aquarium plant pots, supplies, etc! (answer: none that I could find)

Monte Carlo Growing Up, not OUT

Odd... as an outdoor gardener, 21 hours of light sounds unnatural. I have too many hobbies to try to learn!!

    Giant betta question

Who cares? They are a living thing, and there's nothing wrong with giving it them a nice home.

    Anubias flowered!

Yeah, ok that sort of looks like what I was thinking about. I'm an outdoor plant gal and really have had very little luck with indoor ones.

    Anubias flowered!

hmmm, is there a houseplant related to the one that is shown here in bloom? It looks a lot like certain houseplant flowers I have seen.

    Is my betta underweight

I purchased a baby "boy" betta a month ago and not only is it really a "girl" but now that she's getting larger she's rather plump, no matter what I do. I think her body shape is just like that. I think males are supposed to be thinner, possibly like yours is?

    Is my betta underweight

in my newbie opinion, maybe a tad thin?

What exactly is this breed of betta?

He looks like he'd be super impressive when in tip-top health!

    Giant betta question

I've seen a handful of the "big boys" so far at stores, and WOW they are a LOT bigger than the standard bettas. I've been told they tend to be more docile?

    Snob Betta ?!?

HA!!! I am no pro, but my first betta was new to me in August, and she didn't eat anything but the one brand pellet I bought along with her. Now, 4 months later, she finally eats most of what I put in there, even SOME of the dried "bugs" she hated before. Just sayin'...

Do I need plant specific substrate if I use liquid fertilizer?

I know a good amount about OUTDOOR gardening, but am learning about aqua-gardening. Since most of the readily available planted tank substrates either look too silly, come in too large a quantity, or cost a LOT, I'm curious if it MUST be used IF I am already adding a little liquid fertilizer to...

    The Baby Java Fern Thread

ACTUALLY, if the "parent leaf" can be sacrificed, how about trimming the area off and glueing it to a rock, etc? I thought I read once that the baby plants eventually detatch from the parent. That doesn't seem to be true looking at people's photos. That's why I started this thread! :-)

    The Baby Java Fern Thread

That sounds perfect for tanks larger than mine ;-) Supposedly you can do that with strawberry plants, and I think roses. Outdoor gardening experience can be a plus!
  24. Nells250

    I succumbed

Yeah, phones just can't replace real cameras in my opinion but I am becoming the minority... Maybe shut the flash off and use extra lighting from outside the tank so the phone can take pics quicker.

    I succumbed

That's quite a plant! I wasn't aware large plants could effect water oxygen that much. He looks like a pretty fish... we need to see him in a flash-photo so we can see his true colors!

    Train Photos

I'm an odd-ball female... I like things like cars and machines. So it wasn't all that shocking for me to get into trains around 2003, thanks to my boyfriend. Since then, I've been taking photos of local rail activity. Alas, most of the old-timer railfans I have known have passed away, and I...
