My Rilis eggs extend that far down and in the photo it looks like the yellow is under the shell but as I said it's hard to see.

They were the wild Bettas I wanted originally but when I was looking I could only find them on ebay for £140 per pair plus shipping whereas a LFS had my Betta Coccina in for £5 each. My bank account won that argument

I would just do the water changes and possibly salt but that's it unless it gets worse. It's what I'm doing with one of my Betta Coccina males who's managed to pick up a scrape on his side, water changes and keeping an eye on him and its healing fine.

How often do you do water changes and how much do you do?

PH depends on the fish, I wouldn't worry about it being 7, I think all of my tanks are lower than that. If its only on one side I would suspect a tumour, how long has he had it?

If gourami eggs are like betta eggs then they'll need shade to develop so if the light from the tank can reach them they're unlikely to develop. Again if they're like betta eggs then it takes about 36-48 hours for the eggs to hatch then another couple of days or so for the fry to become free...
