    Help again please

Unfortunately the white one has died, I was doing the water change and noticed he had gone. Hopefully I can keep the other two alive.

    Help again please

Yep it's at 30C. All water is treated with Tetra Aqua safe which is thoroughly mixed in and then left to stand for a bit before I put it in. I turned the pump up and turned it more to the surface when I turned the heat as I'd read heat takes oxygen out of the water. I will stop at the shop...

    Help again please

I noticed at the start of the week/end of last week, I can't remember the exact day, that the dark Betta had white spot, fins and body covered in little white dots so I've been doing daily water changes of 75%, turned up the heat and added some aquarium salt in. I am making the assumption that...

    Betta and shrimps ?

I have shrimp in with one Betta without issues though he does eat some of the babies from time to time but that works from me because it helps keep the population under control.

    Betta cross tail types

As I said, basic. It's of course much complicated than that because it depends on the actual genotype of the fish, if your male looks like a delta then it may be a parent had a delta gene and passed that on rather than the half moon so that lowers your chances but again without knowing the...

    Betta cross tail types

Going off a basic punnet square then no it would be more like a 25% chance.

    Fungal infection or something else?

So little update. Everything seems to be holding steady, I can't see any progression of the white stuff in the chillies and they seem to be a bit more active again. A couple of them lost all their colour and a few had dropped some weight but colour seems to be returning. I think the marks I saw...

    Help! New betta won't eat!

One of my new Bettas wouldn't take dried food or frozen bloodworm and eventually I gave him a baby shrimp which he devoured then tried him with live bloodworm which he took. Yesterday he ate the dried food quite happily for the first time but it's taken nearly 2 weeks for him to take dried food...

    Fungal infection or something else?

Hopefully this shows it a little better. Thus isn't the worst fish but I think you can see the white dots around the dorsal fin as well as under the belly and then the whitish patch on the body between the dorsal and tail fin

    Fungal infection or something else?

I hold off putting any medication in for now then and just stick to the water changes. I'll keep trying to get a better picture of the fish but it's proving to be quite difficult.

    Fungal infection or something else?

Water change done with a bit of salt added in. I've pulled two pieces of driftwood out and they're now soaking in a bucket of hot salty water after being rinsed off. I'm going to pop to the LFS to pick up some anti bacterial/anti fungal treatment as I think I can now see some blotches on some of...

Do halfmoons and doubletail bettas get tired of all that tail?

A plaket? Short tailed variety, they still get classed as half moons, comb tailed etc etc but they're short tailed rather than the full flowing tails. Personally I prefer longer tails but I have seen some very nice short tails.

    Fungal infection or something else?

Struggling to get a better picture of the fish as it's not playing ball but got a better picture of the fungus on the driftwood. All my water is treated with tetra aquasafe before it goes into the tank.

    Fungal infection or something else?

So my 110 litre tank has cycled and I added some fish to it. I've noticed on the chilli rasbora that some of then have developed white patches, 2 have it more extensively and some have just spots round their dorsal fins in particular and tail. The CPD in the tank seem to be unaffected by this as...

Do halfmoons and doubletail bettas get tired of all that tail?

I think mostly it's out of stress when they start chomping on their tails. 3 of my Bettas have bitten their tails at some point, 2 of them in the shop 1 of which has bitten the top half of his tail quite far down, 1 in the shop but a bit more since he came home. The 2 that only bit in the shop...

Do halfmoons and doubletail bettas get tired of all that tail?

If you're looking for a Betta without a big tail then what about a plaket Betta?

    That one species of fish!!

This is the picture they've just posted. They've got some other Channas in on the same delivery so I can't wait to see the rest of the delivery.

    That one species of fish!!

My LFS has just posted some photos of some beautiful Channa Bipuli, I would quite like one of them now. I'm going to need an actual aquarium to have all these fish I want.

    Bettas settling in well

I tried it last night before I gave up and netted a shrimplet. He is more skittish than the others so I wonder if the sight of my hand or tweezers over the top of the tank spook him and put him off eating.

    Bettas settling in well

I'll have a look for some of that as well then because it would make life much easier if I had a dried food he'd take.

    Bettas settling in well

So still not managed to get to the LFS for some live food yet. Tried again with the Fluval Bug Bites. Pisces was happy normal food service had resumed and his big bites were back rather than the bloodworms. Triton being the good boy he is ate them up quite happily, he's built his first bubble...

    That one species of fish!!

Who needs the Loch Ness Monster when you have fish eh? On a slightly more serious note I would like a few tanks big enough for some plecos. One of the LFS near me is a pleco specialist and until I found them I thought they were quite boring fish and now I would love to have some tanks that...

    Platy got stuck in filter

Was he in the sponge side or the pump side? Apologies if you've already answered that.

    Platy got stuck in filter

He must have gone in the hole but I would have thought he would have hit the divider. I have the same filter and I'm genuinely shocked he managed to get in there, he must be a Houdini fish!

    Bettas settling in well

The new Bettas are settling in well now. The ammonia is under control again, think putting some of the floating plants from my other tank in has helped a lot, and now we're in the process of finding food that they'll all eat. My original Betta Pisces (blue and red) will eat any pellet food you...

    That one species of fish!!

That's just weird and not right. This is a Goliath Tiger Fish showing off it's fine set of teeth, not only has it attacked people but they've also been observed attacking and eating small crocodiles in the wild and yet you can buy them as a pet.
