Most reputable places cover any shipping deaths. I’ve had to have a few fish shipped in. I’m in Hawaii, so they had to fly a long way, and they’ve all survived the shipping process. But it is winter now, so I guess most of the mainland has to worry about winter weather

There’s also the butterfly pleco. They get a little bigger than the zebra and clown, but from what I’ve read on them, with darker substrate they get the black/white stripes like the zebra

I run a sun sun hw-304b, aquaclear 90 hob, and a large sponge filter in my 75. If you can find the 304b it’s a solid unit for a very reasonable price. Doesn’t have any flow adjustments would be my only complaint. In regards to the dawn usage, I mean, they use it on baby ducks right? 😬 but...

Yes, they should be able to share a tank. If it’s big enough, that is. My 55 gallon community tank has neons and honey gourami.

This is pretty much what I do with my tanks. They all have an extra filter, most also have a sponge filter. So when I’m setting up a new tank I take one of those ‘spares’ and some stability and wait a day at the most.

If you are on Facebook, there are usually local groups that would have members in your area that would possibly be able to take your fish, or some of them at least.

Only do a water change if you find ammonia or nitrites. At least that’s my opinion.

I was going to say the nitrites are probably why they are swimming to the surface. Going off my own cories, they stay near the bottom. The only time they venture up, is when they are right next to the decor I have. Hardly any free swimming.

I had to google osmotic pressure. So, that would be the ability for the pure water to pass thru the fishes skin membrane?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the liquid ferts basically designed to supplement the minerals that would normally be in nature since most of our water supply is treated to some degree or another to remove those same minerals?

Now that there are fish in it, test your water daily. Monitor the fish for unusual behavior. Be ready to do water changes.

If you have other fish tanks, take the media from one of their filters and squeeze it into this tank. Or if the filter can be used on this new tank, even better.

I love them. I have those two, the super red and albino. As well as another albino and a regular brown colored one. I also have a clown and sailfin. I just don’t feel like the tank looks right without a pleco I guess haha.

My albino (Peach) and super red (Carrot) bristlenose’s had another batch of fry! This would be batch 2. The last one got eaten by the tank mates, I suspect this batch will be too 😬 But here’s the best pic I could take of the baby I saw

I have 3 honey’s and they definitely hide really well. I don’t know that I’ve gone a whole day without a spotting but I’ve definitely been ‘missing’ at least one for a good handful of hours. They get real shy at times.
