Yeah I used black cement dye. I think it’s ‘charcoal’ or something like that. Just remember with cement, unless you soak it in water for months after it cures/hardens, you definitely want to put a coat of some sort of sealant to keep your ph from blasting off the charts

The cement definitely won’t be heavy enough to sink it, unless you put a very very thick layer on it.

I would go the route of just one blue acara and maybe 3-5 angels. Theoretically the acara would stay lower in the tank than the angels. But, fish do what they want.

You really could build a 3D background for no more than 100$. All you need is foam, cement, and epoxy resin (all fish safe of course). And you could have a background that you built, so your specifications, your design preferences, and the satisfaction knowing you did it vs paying $1000 or more...

Polar blues have absolutely no blood parrot in their genetics. It is one of those industry falsehoods. They are just short body convicts, with a fancied up name.

I was using seachem florish, but have since switched to aquarium co-op’s all in one(easy green I think). I also use florish excel. But, it started flowering before any of that was done consistently.

Due to being a hybrid, blood parrot males tend to be sterile. My female has laid eggs, however none hatched, even with the firemouth boyfriend she had at the time. In my opinion if you got them both young a pair of blood parrots would be fine in a 55.
