I bred platies a couple of times just for the fun. Kept a couple and then gave the rest if the fry and my females to the lfs. You may try that just for the fun if breeding.

Everybody breeds guppies, it seems. A Lfs may take them off your hands for free just so you don’t get overwhelmed with them. :)

Corydoras for sure due to personality. For a wow factor, I love the red tip shark. For graceful beauty, nothing beats a veil tale goldfish with a long flowing tail.

Plecos don’t eat much algae. Snails are better at that, IMO. I bought 2 plecos years ago to eat algae. All they do is hide all day and I have to feed them at night because not enough algae.
