I imagine your parameters will be high quickly so I’d go with 75%. Have you got yourself the API master test kit for freshwater ?

I’ve suggested plants to her and she has a lovely chunk of driftwood in there too and planted it would look amazing my Cory eggs didn’t make it, nothing want happening and in the light they looked bright white. I touched them with a credit card to try to scrape them but they all disintegrated

If you test in the water after putting in food to rot, the parameters won't read right - your bacteria growth, even with bacteria in a bottle, won't be established enough to handle the bioload of fish. A proper cycle can take between 6-8 weeks. My mum's tank is at day 49, so week 7

With reference to heaters, I didn't mention it before as guppies don't NEED need a heater - I've known them to be kept in a half barrell outdoor ponds (similar) where night time temperatures are going to dip. Good luck!

The only problem with letting food rot is you're not controlling the level of ammonia at any one time. The guide that was written for here has that control mechanism. I'm even thinking, too much ammonia will stall the cycle, even if you're putting just a small pinch of food in.

Nerites don't hatch as they need brackish water (which very few of us run) You'll be safe, just brush them off and gravel vac the base

Don't make any drastic changes to the PH, stable PH is far more beneficial than one that wavers to and fro. @essjay
