You can try snails, like pond snails or ramshorn. I know they do okay in the cooler water that Goldfish prefer. But they often become pests as well and the population will explode if there is leftover food. I would say nerite snails are the best glass cleaners ever, but am not sure how they do...

They are fun and pretty easy to breed. You will want to add new ones to your colony at least once a year, to keep the lines fresh and inbreeding down. You get weird colors otherwise.
