    2.5 Gallon Scud Jar

I saw a large jar at the grocery store the other day, and impulse bought it. It is roughly 2.5 gallons, and I am going to do a super low tech scud aquarium in it. No heater, no filter. Pictures to follow!

They have eaten all of the rams horns I have put in, and the pond snails. I will post pics for size. (The quarter is for reference. The nerite snail in the tank is slightly larger than the quarter). You might be able to try that with a larger mystery snail, but would have no guarantee of it...

I have a duo of dwarf puffers in my 15 gallon column tank. I think the biggest problem with keeping them alone is that they get bored, I ended up drawing different suff on the outside of the tank every day, like some people do with betta fish. My two females only actually interact with one...

    Prematured molly babies

I do a large water change after any fish death. Make sure all of the dead fry are removed from the tank. Some livebearers will abort their current batch if they are too stressed out. What are your ph, gh, and tank size? How long has your tank been set up, and what is the stock?

Honestly they are super easy, and will start to breed after a couple of months. Just make sure your filter has a sponge over the intake so it doesn't suck up shrimplets.

I now have two sets of Neolamprologus Multifasciatus fry now, staggered apart by about two weeks. I am pretty excited. The older batch are starting to show some stripes and the younger only emerged from the shell a couple of days ago. They share shells between the two batches of fry too. For as...

    40L/10g stocking suggestions??

To an extent, yes. But it all does depend on what OP eventually settles on. They asked for options, and that is what I provided. I have kept shrimp with some of my betta fish in the past (and still do). I would say about a third went after the young and 10 percent went after adult cherry...

    40L/10g stocking suggestions??

You could do a school of some of the smaller species, like Celestial Pearl Danio, Ember Tetra, some of the small rasbora species like Kubotai. I have kept Pygmy Corydoras in a 10 gallon. I had 8 of them and they worked out great. You could also do shrimp in a 10 gallon, as well as snails.

    70 Litre stocking (again)

If you wanted any of the anabantoids, you would have to add a heater, which will stress the white clouds. When I had an unheated tank, I had some pepper cories, Corydoras paleatus, with my white cloud mountain minnows. They prefer the temps between 72°F and 75°F, so work well in peaceful tanks...

How to Reduce Aggression in Tank

Most rainbow sharks will chase any fish the enters their territory, they generally become territorial once they reach adulthood. For rainbow sharks you want them to be the only bottom dwelling species, and don't keep anything they can catch or bully. The smaller the space the more agressive the...

    Yoyo Loach Size Difference

I'll try incorporating frozen and live foods more than once a week, and buy a larger selection when I go to the fish store. I didn't realize that uncooked feeding shrimp would infect my cherry shrimp, but it does make sense. I appreciate the tip.

    Yoyo Loach Size Difference

I certainly try. I feed in three spots in the tank, and have actually been worried about over feeding them. Most of my foods are floating or slow sinking, so maybe I'll try to get some more sinking pellets.

    Yoyo Loach Size Difference

So I have had my Yoyo Loaches since February and some of them show good growth. Others are the same size as when I purchased them. Betta + other fish?

You could do something like a couple of nerite snails, or a colorful mystery snail. The pleco would be a big no, since sailfin plecos get 12 in and larger. Maybe khuli loaches would work? Of course, this is all depending on your gh and ph.

    simple question

I have both black and blue backgrounds, and do prefer the black. I use the cheap black poster paper from Walmart or hang a black piece of fabric behind the tank.

    Thinking About Culturing Scuds

Any advice here? Pros and cons? From the bit I have read they seem like a decent live food for small and medium fish. I have a spare 10 gallon tank that I am growing hornwort and algae in, thought about using it for live foods and scuds look like a nice option.

White cloud minnow - ammonia or parasite?

There are a surprising variety of shrimp you could house in that size. I will post a pic of some of my red cherry shrimp. Or maybe an African Dwarf Frog. They only get about 1.5 inches. I am not for sure on them, since I have not kept them myself.

White cloud minnow - ammonia or parasite?

Both species, WCMM and Leopard Danio, need a bit of swimming room. The absolutely smallest tank I would have either in would be 10 gallons, or about 35 liters. It could have been stress or something else. @Colin_T is pretty good at diagnosis.

    A nice trade in!

The first 3 or so day mine are usually clear, then develop into a medium red and by 2 months get really dark, like in the picture. Do you feed a shrimp specific food? I just feed bottom feeder pellets.

    A nice trade in!

All the ones in the shop tank were various colors of cherry shrimp. All of mine are red cherry shrimp (I have about 30). My surprise shrimp is so small it hasn't yet developed colors. I have also never had problems with keeping any of my shrimp alone or in smaller groups.

They get changed out after 2 weeks or so, when I check root growth. After about 6 weeks they are usually attached well enough. This batch of anubias is being particularly stubborn.

    A nice trade in!

I traded 4 gallon bags of water lettuce for some celestial pearl danio for my 25 gallon hex tank! I also got an accidental shrimp. The CPDs are in with 8 pygmy corydoras and a bunch of cherry shrimp and some pond snails. They don't like to sit still, but here are some pictures of the tank.
