How to salt bath for fin rot

I use one heaped tablespoon per 5 gallons for finrot and the like. That would likely be fine for a guppy.

Are my guppies eating white clouds?

Did you cycle the tank? Do you have live plants? And how often do you perform water changes? It could be just not enough room in the tank. I wouldn't keep white clouds in anything smaller than 10 gallons, as with a smaller tank they get stressed out from not having enough swimming room. With...

80 gallon with Orange Chromide Fry

Me too. I think I am just missing something with the chromides. I have tried taking the eggs and fry away, I have tried letting the parents raise them, I have tried isolating the parents and fry from other fish. Maybe the water isn't hard enough? I have my main breeding pair in with crushed...

    Goldfish Help

If they are comet goldfish, they would need a 90 gallon or larger, if they are fancy goldfish you could probably get away with a 29(at a minimum). 5 gallons is completely unsuitable for goldfish of any kind. As far as plants go, quick growing plants would be of a more immediate help. Duck weed...

80 gallon with Orange Chromide Fry

All of the fry were missing when I turned the tank lights on. I am disappointed, but not that surprised. This batch did last longer than any of my previous dozen or so.

    Broken filter

Have you tried taking the filter apart and cleaning the impeller? If it is an electrical problem, that is beyond me. But if my filters jam up or slow down, I have found just taking the filter apart and cleaning the intake and impeller(once had a pebble stuck in it) might help.

    Goldfish Help

Do you know what size tank it is? These look like comet goldfish, which really do belong in a pond. They continuously grow throughout their lives, and usually reach 12+ inches. You can keep them in large tanks, but they are poop machines. You can always think about revoking them if they outgrow...

    2.5 Gallon Scud Jar

When you get up close, yeah. That was my camera zoomed in as far as it goes. When looking at them normally, they look kinda like weird shrimp. I might put some actual shrimp in there too. I have reds already, so maybe blue or black.

I need to identify this snail.. help!

If you don't want them, I would suggest scraping off the eggs and picking out any adults you see. Whenever there is food for them to eat, they will breed. You can also cut back on the amount of food you feed, or pull out uneaten food. A lot of people do a bleach dip (a small amount of bleach...

    2.5 Gallon Scud Jar

Lol, here is a a pic. To get a proper search on Google, you might have to look up aquarium scud or scud amphipod. They are also called side swimmers, I think.

    2.5 Gallon Scud Jar

They are amphipods that eat detritus and scavenge. They make a good clean up crew alternative, and will breed so long as there is plenty of food for them. I plan on feeding them to my fish once the culture starts producing.

    Sad day.

The Electric Blue JDs, being from a recessive strain, are inherently very delicate. Most don't survive to adulthood, and have a sad tendency to just go. Sorry for your loss there.

    2.5 Gallon Scud Jar

If I can find them locally, yes. I got the scuds from my lfs, they always keep some on hand and one of the employees also has a culture.

    2.5 Gallon Scud Jar

The giant duckweed gets about as big as my pinky nail. I like it a LOT more than regular duckweed, which I have made an effort to keep out of the jar. As far as true moss goes, I don't plan on adding any. The scuds will eat any delicate plants, and I expect the hornwort and anacharis to be...

80 gallon with Orange Chromide Fry

I have been feeding them fry food and baby brine (pain in the butt, those) and there are bits of almond and oak leaves in there, which do have infusoria. I just started a microworm culture, as well as a scud culture.

80 gallon with Orange Chromide Fry

Rather than the usual pair in my 29 gallon (who have yet to successfully raise their fry), a pair of Orange Chromides in my 80 gallon tank decided to pair off. They are about 2 weeks in from first laying of eggs.

    Three pregnant guppies

I would suggest calling your local fish store and seeing if they are willing to trade the females out for males for you. Or see if they will take any fry. The females hold sperm packets and will continue to produce fry for up to 10 months, even if the male is taken out. Your best bet is to get...

Cloudy water on established aquarium doesn’t go away

Do you have a picture? That might help diagnose any problems. Without that, my best advice would be to do a large water change and wipe off the viewing side of the glass.
