Yes, common name, they call them platinum
  12. Magnum Man

    Rummy’s turning on the light…

Just after this was taken, this mornings chase began… the males, like a cat with a laser… chase her around, until she glows no more…

    Rummy’s turning on the light…

I’ve noticed this before, that the egg heavy females, because of their rotund shape, reflect a lot more light, and with as shaded as my tank is by overhead plants, it’s almost as if they are self lighting… I expect it draws the attention of the boys…

    Thoughts on L-519 pleco’s

Not exactly sure, of what above is saying… maybe, that these are likely 519’s, but because they were in a batch of already caught fish, away from their native habitat, they couldn’t be identified properly, as 519’s so they could be a different variety… and at this point, I’m not sure if the...

    Thoughts on L-519 pleco’s

This was a comment on Planet Catfish… Ancistrus sp. Wabenmuster were originally imported as by-catch with other Ancistrus specimens, so locality data is unavailable and it is currently impossible to identify them as a species. Their common name refers to the honeycomb color pattern covering...

    Thoughts on L-519 pleco’s

I seem to have a special spot in my heart, for these smaller varieties of suckers… I have a spot I could add something new, in the algae eater department, and had been looking at 519’s for a while ( definitely wouldn’t be an impulse buy ) but lately have been seeing these fish, with no L...

Any idea what this is on my African 3 lined glass cat???

Not sure if these guys have the typical spines in their fins… if so, maybe this one got poked, during the extra activity of what looked like spawning, the other day??? This morning

Any idea what this is on my African 3 lined glass cat???

Those are 2 of the 3 blue diamonds just above the effected fish… filaments on the dorsal of at least one… thought still not mature

Any idea what this is on my African 3 lined glass cat???

No video… maybe looks a little smaller, and looks more like a blister tonight… no changes to the fishes actions

    Fish runts, from your breeding???

It had been a while, since I had seen the runt, with no special treatment, I assumed it was as gone… saw it yesterday, it’s gone from guppy size to platy size, in the meantime, it’s siblings are nearing edible size, I could “can” them, or pickle them, the size they are now, not quite fillet...

Up before the tank lights this morning… activity witnessed in the South American tetra tank…

BTW... my school, seems to hang mid, to 2/3's down the water level... but sleep under a hollow log on the bottom of the tank, with the Raccoons... the Pristells go into the weeds on the bottom of the other side of the tank, with the Palmeries... Rummy's are the 1st into the mid water, as the...

Up before the tank lights this morning… activity witnessed in the South American tetra tank…

I've ordered these a few times, to where I have a long term school of 14-16 of them currently, after you lose a few after they arrive... https://www.dansfish.com/product.detail/4837/Platinum-Rummynose-Tetra-(Hemigrammus-rhodostomus)

Any idea what this is on my African 3 lined glass cat???

Lots of tannins in that tank, along with water flow, & the fishes activity level makes picture taking challenging in that tank... nothing in that tank, that "bites"
  33. Magnum Man

Any idea what this is on my African 3 lined glass cat???

They were exhibiting spawning like activity the other day, but there really isn’t anything sharp that I can think of, that they could have gotten bashed on, from their unusual activity
  34. Magnum Man

Fish patterning, coloration, what can we tell by looking at them???

Just the size and shape of the Oto’s would lend to them easily being dinner, and they are often swimming in the open, or grazing on extended roots of terrestrial plants, making them easy targets???
  35. Magnum Man

Any idea what this is on my African 3 lined glass cat???

I just looked these guys over pretty good 2 days ago, and this wasn’t noticeable then, so is it a fast growing tumor, or a bister, or ???
