Am I disturbing my king tigers???

they range in size between them all from 2" to 4" the 2 at the cave mouth picture are 3" and 4" the one hanging outside the cave mouth is the 3" one, & the bigger one is actually in the cave

Any idea what these are on my Batman snails???

@FranciscoB... that makes sense, as they are much larger than the other types of snail eggs

Any idea what these are on my Batman snails???

coincidentally, that's an Armano looking at the snail in the 2nd picture... and it's funny, I also have pest snails, & assassin snails in this tank, & those eggs are smaller, & I see them around & on the glass, but I haven't noticed the Nerite snails anywhere but on another snail... so far...

the little cave on the top, was made by the fish, they actually chewed that one out of a small groove in the wood

Am I disturbing my king tigers???

Thanks... I mostly use my Cell phone, because it's right there, but it's pretty bright, and there is no focus of the beam... I maybe should round up an old single cell incandescent flash light to keep by this tank... yes, all are L-333's bought at a couple different times, so, maybe not litter...

Maybe embryo’s that need brackish to survive??? This talks about nerite eggs, but I thought they deposited them on the sides of the tank or hardscape… not on each other??? https://forum.aquariumcoop.com/topic/33056-how-to-avoid-nerite-snail-eggs/

Any idea what these are on my Batman snails???

They are supposed to be in the Nerite family, and not supposed to breed in aquariums… Sure look like eggs, but much larger, than pest snail eggs I noticed them on one, a few days ago, now I see them on two, of the 5 in the tank, and they’ve been in there for 3-4 months

Am I disturbing my king tigers???

I’m not specifically trying to breed them, ( Ok, yes I am, with the limited amount of time I have ) but I have 4-5 in a tank, and one actual cave… a couple of them have adopted the cave, being in a deeper tank, and a cave on the bottom, I’ve positioned it to be able to see into it, but it’s too...

Is a heater always necessary for tropical fish?

You already have gotten the best advice… I’ll add, that I have a tank that I like to keep at around 70 degree F. ( and I live in Minnesota, and couldn’t live without air conditioning in the summer, and heat in the winter ) not being made of money, we are conservative on the thermostat… without a...

Throwing a wrench into the mechanics of minimum fish numbers… well, sort of…

I honestly think we need to look at their spawning type…. Those that group spawn, probably should be kept in a larger shoal… those that pair up, most often can’t be kept in a group past their juvenile stages… I’d bet if I paid attention, there are many fish that pair up, that are still...

Throwing a wrench into the mechanics of minimum fish numbers… well, sort of…

But as an enthusiast, we should understand what changes the fish go through… the “general” consensus is “these fish need to be in large shoals”, and I agree with those, as fry / fingerlings, and young juveniles… but psychotic angel fish are a good argument for me, we can’t always have enough of...

are these unusual??? I haven't seen them before... Petitella georgiae

it doesn't help less complicate anything, when they line breed, or whatever the "platinum" morph is... and then I think it was hinted about them moving the Hemigrammus fish into the Petitella family, in the article last linked above... guessing it's only a matter of time until they do Tetras...

do normal heaters lose some efficiency over time???

I guess all the more reason to buy bigger heaters than you think you would need??? ...and a good reason to keep them clean... I had never had a buildup on my heaters before, & still not exactly sure why I'm seeing it, probably a combination of colder than normal room temperatures at times, so...

do normal heaters lose some efficiency over time???

I have mostly various brands and sizes of digital heaters, with quartz glass tubes, & in the house I haven't noticed any issues, but outside in the Tilapia grow out tanks, where they are challenged, I'm seeing a difference with the heaters I'm using... last year I had a pair of 1200 watt...

Are Festivum‘s as weirdly freaky as angels

Mutt… ( pet store angel ) has been growing rapidly, and feels the need to be tank boss… it generally is peaceful to everyone, except at feeding time, when it battles everyone into the corners… it’s a pig, I expect because it’s hungry, with it’s rapid growth, but it seems it would rather guard...

Are Festivum‘s as weirdly freaky as angels

I find angel fish “pretty”, but not very angelic as they mature, as many as I’ve had, I’ve never had them pair up, and every time I’ve tried them, I end up with a single angel per tank… they must have to be kept only a in large groups, or single angel per tank… since these are often recommended...

How to tell how old your fish is???

Not sure if size is any real indicator… I got a small shoal of both Cory’s, and Panda Garra’s, that each came here tiny, at like 1/2 inch size, and both of those groups achieved full size in 3 months or less… they were in very different tanks, so no tank magic… And I received a very non wild...

How to tell how old your fish is???

Often we see embattled fish in commercial aquariums, that you can tell have lots of life experience, like the one @gwand posted recently, but often in private aquariums they may have lived a more sheltered life, and wear less battle scars of life, making it harder to age them

How to tell how old your fish is???

Age of fish has been talked about a bit lately, and it’s hard enough, trying to remember how long you’ve had a long lived fish… But how old are they, when we get them is another question… typically if they are adult sized, can we assume another year, at least on tank raised fish???
