Unlimited food supply… what happens long term???

Also wollffia is highly recommended as a nutritious food source https://www.fishforums.net/threads/water-meal.495242/#post-4348653

Unlimited food supply… what happens long term???

Just to clarify, they get an adequate, and varied diet… they typically get fed at night, but I witness them feeding on the wolffia at 1st light the in the morning…

Unlimited food supply… what happens long term???

So I have some water meal thriving in a tank ( growing fast than the fish can eat it ) I’m not sure all are eating it, but it’s supposed to be a good food source… of the 2 varieties of African tetras, that I know are eating it, each of these look pregnant, they have been eating so much… I’m...

Dwarf Crayfish… trying to define the line between predator and prey…

I know neocardia shrimp, being smaller and more timid that dwarf crays, would be different, and Baby Crays, would likely be eaten like a shrimp… in my medium Cichlid tank, I thinking about trying a group, to help clean up around the bigger rocks, by the waterfall, that the Cory’s haven’t been...

makes one wonder, if this could be a problem in an aquarium... if the fish was getting harassed by another dominant Angel, or other Cichlid for example... I have a couple sterbai, in a mixed community tank, with a dominant angel... also if this is relatively recently discovered, the wholesale...

    Cory / Swordtail cross???

I know that couldn’t actually happen, short of gene splicing... and I know this is not a natural form, but in my group of long fin Cory’s, that arrived yesterday, there is one, with a sword tail… well actually 2 of them

I sure love my bubbles… replicating as best I can, natural habitats…

So, as general aquarist’s, I think the average, is only able to replicate the temperature’s… most people can more closely replicate lake fish habitats, if your tank is big enough, however, probably the majority of commonly traded aquarium fish are river species, and my biggest group of tanks I...

A horse of a different color... new air pump here...

Well it’s big enough, it doesn’t fit where the old one was… patched a few lines together and put it up temporarily… bubbles in each tank now, but small tanks still on the small air pump, until I redo some more…

A horse of a different color... new air pump here...

it's still Asian of some sort... not sure if it's Japanese or Chinese, or other... but it actually carries a serial number, and parts and service are available in the US... it's much, much quieter than my other linear piston pumps, which are 3/8 inch outlets, this one is nearly twice the size...

    West Side Story???

I thought I was going to see a "rumble" today, as I added a small gang of Cory's... almost immediately, the biggest spot tail flew out from his hiding spot, to one of the still acclimating Cory's... but I think he was just happy to see another small fish... after adding the Cory's I had to go...

so, this kind of tags off my blue water thread... one supplier I've ordered from, puts those little pieces of absorbent foam in the bags... & I've seen sprigs of Java Moss, or similar, when shipping shrimp, to give them something to hold on to... today, I got my small gang of Cory's from Dan's...

who is most susceptible to getting Ich???

I always worry most about my cooler tanks, as the fish would suffer most, from heat treatment ( my preferred method )... however in the couple years I've had my tanks going again, I've had it in 2 tanks, both outbreaks, at "tropical" temperature's... so either I was just lucky, or maybe the...

OK, so what really is the blue stuff they put in the fish water when they ship some fish???

Yes, I had best intentions of keeping a couple extra tanks, when I added 4 -10 gallons… one was always planned for cherry shrimp, and one for growing live foods… the other 2 for hospital and quarantine… getting those earth eaters, sent to me instead of Cupids, was bad for my plan, as those tanks...

well... 8 out of 12 of the fish made it through the night... I would have hoped for better, but being "jumbo" fish... being older, maybe that is an acceptable number??? the Cardinal eating Angel fish ( that ate all the previous ones I tried to introduce, that came in small ), was sure...

    Cleaning tank with sand

I’m not opposed to “making” stuff… a wide, bigger diameter gravel vac part, will reduce the suction velocity… getting the right size in relation to your hose, may take a few tries… I was going to make one for my black sand tank, and while the Cory’s are not there to eat poop, I have a pretty...
