    Fluval 405

I have to give mine the wobble treatment every time I do a water change, the primer seems to be a bit useless (or I can't pump hard enough, no jokes please!). I have to admit to not being very impressed with it.

Is the impellor ok? The spindles seem to break quite easily on these.

What To Add To Current Stocking

Hmm, larger fish aren't my area of expertise (not that much is!) how about Gourami or Rainbows? I know nothing about Cichlids but I'd assume that most of them would like to take up residence in your plecs' caves... Paradise Fish? What's your water like? If it's hard of soft it could narrow your...

What Can I Keep In A 20Litre Tank

There's loads of info on them (ADFs/African Dwarf Frog/Congo Frog) in the amphibian/reptile section. Anything you need to know should be in there somewhere!

Were you thinking along the lines of a few largeish, striking fish or a large shoal of smaller fish?

My Celebes Fry Updated: 10 Fry Now

Just thought I'd update this thread with how the fry are doing. The first 3 that hatched are still going strong and now they are 2 1/2 months old they are large enough to see them properly. I think I've sussed out why they are seemingly aggressive to each other - they are all male. You can see...

What Can I Keep In A 20Litre Tank

You could always have an African Dwarf Frog or possibly 2 though I'd have nothing else in there with them. A Betta would be OK or some fancy shrimp like filter feeding shrimp.

    Bettas And Brine Shrimp Nauplii

I though I'd ask seeing as I have so much of it! So far I've tried him on Tetra flake and Tetra Prima with no interest. He's eaten a few bloodworm that I put in for the frogs but I don't want him to eat nothing but bloodworm. I'll get him some pellet food tomorow and see if he will go for that.

    I Finally Have A Dog!

Rawhide chews are just as good if not better than dentastix. Personally I wouldn't touch Pedigree products with a bargepole and they just upset my dogs' stomachs anyway. Bad breath is usually a sign of digestive problems unless the dog is older. I don't brush my dogs' teeth, as I say they get...

It looks like brown algae or diatoms to me, it should just wipe away. It won't hurt the fish.

    Fish Id Plz

Just read the thread you linked to BigC, amazing! Imagine being able to go out and just catch fish like that! All we'd get here are sticklebacks and minnows, ok if you like brown fish I suppose but not quite the same!

No, no sign of finrot that I can see, he looks perfectly healthy to me! Can't help with the round thing though, sorry.

    Bettas And Brine Shrimp Nauplii

As this is my first Betta I thought I'd check whether they are likely to eat tiny foods. I am permanently hatching brine shrimp which I feed to my adult Threadfins and Celebes Rainbowfish and fry. The larger bows won't eat it as it's so small but would a Betta see it? I wondered whether as it...

Finally Sucked In By A Betta!

I've never been a big Betta fan, every one I see in the lfs just seems to hang in the water with a droopy tail and besides the colour I couldn't see the attraction. I even had a Betta for a few days who came in a community tank I got from ebay; a red guy who just hung in the water in a corner. I...

    I Finally Have A Dog!

Go on, I'll second your nomination! Teaching a dog its' name is simple; say the dogs name and if he looks at you give him a treat/play with a toy with him. Don't say anything other than the dog's name at this point otherwise the dog may not associate the right sound with the treat (eg, don't...

    I Finally Have A Dog!

Chewing underwear is very much a puppy thing to do and with training he'll grow out of it! My lurcher also did this; to my acute embarrassment she used to bring them into the living room to chew them in front of guests... Have you got some training classes booked yet? If he's your first dog I'd...

    Adf With White Eyes

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately she passed away earlier this afternoon :(. I tested the water anyway and the ammonia was 0 (or at least that's what my eyes told me, there's a possibility that it was ever so slightly coloured but I couldn't tell). The filter was filled with media from an...

    Adf With White Eyes

Hi all, I've recently put my ADF into a species only tank and given her some friends (2). They have now been in the tank (28l) for a few weeks and whilst the two youngsters are doing well, the original frog isn't. Her eyes have gone white, first one then the other and she spends most of her time...

    Parasitic Or Bacterial?

Thanks for replying Loraxchick. I have treated with both Serazin and Octozin as I believed it to be parasitic but I don't know if they contain the above ingredients. When they didn't have any affect I tried the bacterial meds. I'll have to get the medicated food online as there's nowhere round...

    What The Hell Has Happened?!

  30. myrtle

    Sick Angel?

You can try meds, though be careful not to overdose, even by a tiny amount as it can wipe out the filter and send you into a mini cycle while it recolonises (I know this as it happened to me and I lost my Gold Nugget plec). It's probably worth doing a large water change just before dosing...
  31. myrtle

    Sick Angel?

It sounds like fin rot to me. How frequently do you do water changes and how much do you change at a time? Lots of clean water can help fin rot so I'd do a lot of water changes.
  32. myrtle

    Too Many Fry!

Your lfs may take them, unfortunately you are experiencing the downside of keeping male and female livebearers. Unless you kep the males in one tank and females in another you'll continue to have batches of fry frequently.

    Parasitic Or Bacterial?

Hi all, over the last couple of months my 120l tank has had bouts of flashing and white, string poo. At first it was the white poo only so I treated with a course of Octozin which seemed to clear it up. About a month later the white poo reappeared with the Threadfins and then the pygmy corys...

    Over/under-Stocked?

It's pretty much any 'torpedo shaped' fish of that size. An adult angel won't think "oops, that's a Cardinal, not a Neon"! If it's the same size and shape it'll be eaten!
  36. myrtle

    Dragonfly Nymph

Whatever you do,don't put it back in the tank! Any fish that venture near it will be eaten by it, particularly smaller ones. It'll be fine in an outdoor pond as that is their natural habitat, don't worry about it being too cold.

Hmm, I'm out of ideas. I guess the wall behind is the only suspect still in the game.

It's not just fine particles suspended in the water column on their way to the filter intake?

    Flow For Ill Fish

I should think that once they've got over the recent events they would be ok. A lot of people keep cardinals in high turnover planted tanks but it may help to ensure that there are a couple of places for them to go to 'rest' where the flow is slower. Unfortunately this creates 'dead' spots where...

    Strange Tank Colouration.

A few weeks is too long for a bacterial bloom I think, if it was bad enough to last that long it would be a very obvious cloud. My best guess is that you may be right and the colour of the wall behind is influencing the way you see the water. Geting a backdrop or even painting the back of the...
