    Disaster Has Struck

I was really sorry to read this and I know what a heartache it can be when this kind of thing happens. I can't offer any explanations either other than a build up in the filter tubes/impellers/intakes but as said above, one filter is possible but two at the same time? Maybe there was a short...

    Brichardis Terrorising The Whole Tank...

Have you suceeded in removing the terrorists?! As beautiful as they are I think they are really only suited to species tanks unless you are lucky and get some placid ones like your others seem to be. I hope they continue to stay placid!

I Am Having A Nightmare Time!

To be honest you were extremely unlucky with the first lot and the courier, there was nothing else you could have done to prevent that. I can't really advise on the stocking as I'm in a similar position myself after an impulse purchase of Julidochromis transctiptus when I first set up my tank. I...

    Your Most Succesful Breed Yet?

I had a few batches of infertile eggs from my angelfish but hadn't bred anything until I picked up some Celebes Rainbowfish who spawned almost the first week in the tank! I have managed to raise 10 fry altogether to 6 months old and going strong. They are still almost continuously spawning but...

    Lestradea Perspicax Constructing A Bower!

I came downstairs the other morning to find one of the new Lestradea constructing a bower! He's spending all his time perfecting the edges but the multies keep dumping sand in it so he's a bit frustrated! He's now attempting to coax the other into it but it is a little close to the edge of the...

    Juvenile Multies Getting Their Stripes

Thanks lisa, I was just curious so I'll see what happens.

    Juvenile Multies Getting Their Stripes

Hi, of the juvenile multies I got from Lisa the two largest are obviously the ones I see the most. One is slightly smaller than the other but it is the smaller that has begun getting stripes now while the larger one is still a solid silver. What are the chances that this one will be female and...

Are These Too Many Fish For A 110L?

It works well. 28l is the minimum I'd keep them in though. I only have a photo from when it was first set up so the Java fern at the back has filled out a lot and the frogs rest on this so I took the wood out. The frogs are 100% aquatic so don't need platforms, they shoot to the top for a gulp...

Need Help Choosing The Right Fish Tank!

I'd definitely recommend matching the fish to the water as you can spend a fortune and a lot of time trying to change your water and still not succeed. Do you have hard or soft water? What pH is it? I have very hard water with a pH of around 7.5 so researching fish that suited my water was where...

Are These Too Many Fish For A 110L?

I was going to say the same as Harlequins about the bronze and albinos being the same species. I'd go for 3 of each, making a shoal of 6 in total. White patches are often a sign of fin rot. Lots and lots of clean fresh water can work wonders for this or a fin rot medication but be very careful...

    Is It A Fish Bite?

I often get small itchy bumps on my arms when I've been in the tank a lot which I'mguessing is an allergic reaction as opposed to an infection like the op had but it just illustrates what odd things are dissolved in the water!

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

I was warned about their skittishness and have filled all the gaps but I'm used to that with the rainbows, in fact they are less skittish than the praecox , I lost several of those just doing water changes! I prefer the cobbles too, they aren't easy to stack securely but make a more natural tank...

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

Thanks. I caught the Rainbows spawning in the moss under the Anubia roots this morning! If they weren't hybrids I'd have picked the eggs but as they are they can feed the Julies.

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

As promised I took some (bad) photos last night. I didn't use the flash as I didn't want to scare them so they aren't as clear as they could be. This one shows the bit of fin rot on the tail A full tank shot for those interested As you can see they are yet to colour up but I like the...

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

Surprisingly the Lestradea are quite settled already, they've investigated the entire tank and rested right on top of one of the multies shells much to hs dismay! It took quite a bit of tentative pecking to shift him, they are by far the largest fish in the tank! The Julies haven't bothered...

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

Just got back with the Lestradea and they are lovely, still an inch or so to grow (he'd had them 18 months) and just the slightest hint of colour on one of them. They're incredibly skittish at the moment but I'll get some pics once they settle (and once I've made sure any gaps in the lid are...

    Neolamprologus Leleupi

Lisa had some of these so hopefully she'll be along. I think she ended up taking them back to the lfs as they were too aggressive.

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

Yeah, they are the last occupants; 1 shell dweller, 1 open water, 1 rock dweller and 1 sandsifter/rock dweller is enough for a 240l I think! Aparrently he's selling up as he wants to change to Tropheus, his loss! It'll be interesting to see if they are male and female or same sex I didn't...

Wheres The Best Place To Sell Ocean Rock?

That's actually a good price, I expected a minimum of £10. I've seen many an item on ebay with double that price for postage selling.

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

Well the final tankmates have been decided upon - Lestradea perspicax. The pair on AC have been reserved for me so I got my sand sifters after all! I'd have loved the breeding group of Xenos he's selling too, but I'd need another tank and a bank loan.

    Lestradea Perspicax

Hi all, just spotted a pair of these sandsifters on AC and rather fancy them but I can't find a lot of info on them. Aparrently they'd be fine for a 4' tank but that's all I can find. Anyone kept them before? Jo

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

The hard alkaline water was what took me to rainbows originally but the lfs stock are so poor and interbred that they aren't worth it and there are only 2 keepers of pure stock in the UK that I know of who had to drive to Europe to pick them up! That's what then took me to Tangs after seeing...

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

I am erring on the side of calvus or comps now though i'll def have to find some cheaper! Should I just have the one or go for 2?

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

My lfs has calvus but they can order stuff in so I'm not 100% certain yet, plus the calvus are £21 each! The Julies are staying well away from the shellies now, when they went in they were all over them but seem to have given up now.

Tang Tank - What To Add Next?!

Evening all. I am starting to plan the next addition to my 240l Tang tank and am looking for suggestions. At present I have 2 adult male multies with the juvies from Lisa (I'm hoping that some of these will be female) and a family of Julidichromis trascriptus totalling 2 adults and 4 juvies...

    Tanganyikan Spawning

How exciting! Betwen you two you could start your own lfs! It'll be a while until I can say the same thing. The 2 adult multies I have seem to be male as they are both doing a lot of sand shifting so I'm hoping the juvies have some ladies in there.

    Cyprichromis Leptosoma X 2 Sale/swap

Hi, just set my tang tank up. At the moment the open water is rainbows (in sig), would the cyps be ok with these? Would they be ok as a pair for a while as it may be some time before I could afford to add more... Afraid all I can offer to swap is more Julies... Jo

    My First Tangs Are Home!

    My First Tangs Are Home!

I was pointed toward them being Julidochromis marlieri by EliseW and after some research came across this on another site: "The stripe under the eye and the vertical barring both suggest marlieri. Regani have the stripe under the eye, but no vertical barring. Ornatus and transcriptus, no...

    My First Tangs Are Home!

I've just managed to get a few terrible shots of the adults before the battery went on my camera  . I've had to lighten them a bit so the markings are more visible. Apologies for the water marks on the glass

    Thinking Of Getting One ?

I can vouch for what Lisa says, the cobbles are difficult to create large caves with. I had a bag of beach cobbles left over from another tank so thought I'd use them for my tang tank. Small to medium gaps are the best you can get with these.
