I think you can get it from Boots. I also have a 28l with a Betta and 2 African Dwarf Frogs and a couple of Cherry shrimp.

I think I'll probably go down the FX5 route plus one of my existing filters. If I used the 405 I'd take the opportunity to change the tubing though as that awful ribbed stuff just kicks out so much crud when restarted even after I clean them :sick: .

I was going to sell it for about £50 as it is just the tank and stand, no equipment and it was second hand when I got it. It'll be a good month or more though as the new tank will have to be in first ;) I'll have to weigh up between a sump and the 2 fx5s. Hmmm...

Forgot to mention that one of my dogs drinks mine too. When I do a water change I top up her large tub of tank water! She'll only drink that and puddle or pond water unless she's gasping :rolleyes:

I think many people have had a few mouthfuls of tank water when starting the syphon off (and petrol or diesel for the criminally minded!). I can't see a problem with the tank water, though the fuel is a different matter....

How do you know it isn't cycled? What test kit are you using and what readings do you get when you test?

Have I read this right, you have 2 x 4 foot tanks and 1 x 6 foot tank? Water change day must be fun!! I'm getting moaned at by my husband about the Tang tank as it looks 'boring and bare'. My 120l is high tech planted and he wants the 4 footer to be the same - not a chance!

Sorry to hear that, my lfs is over run with them at the moment and they are breeding like crazy in their tanks (them and the bristlenose plecs!). Someone has obviously had a similar problem as you and the lfs now has 5 tanks full of brichardi and their fry plus the odd one that's jumped out into...

I have Rainbowfish in my tang tank and they get on great. Their colours don't show quite as well as they do in a heavily planted tank but they enjoy the water parameters. There's nowt wrong with using non-tang dithers in a tang tank if you ak me, especially when you see the price of cyps - £22...

Now that would be cool!! I really don't know what I'd go for if I had no limitations and had to just pick one... Maybe a huge Tanganyikan sandsifter setup...
