Who Is Happy With Their Display Tank?

I had to go with nowhere near because I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of my new 6 footer so the main tank is awaiting the move. However I am 100% happy with the 120l ^_^

I think you can get it from Boots. I also have a 28l with a Betta and 2 African Dwarf Frogs and a couple of Cherry shrimp.

    My Cyps Finally Got There

They are all about the same age aren't they? I'd have thought that the others would follow suit soon what with all those hormones flying around the tank. Good luck and keep us posted!

    My Cyps Finally Got There

Haha, I bet you nearly spat your coffee out when you realised what they were doing :hyper: . Congrats, I hope she holds well!

    I don't doubt that for one second!

    My First Multi Fry!

I came home after walking the doggies this evening and had a quick look in the tank and my eye was caught by numerous little wiggling things around one of the shells. On closer inspection there were about a dozen tiny multi fry :hyper: . I had thought they were being particularly territorial of...

Love this picture; such a miserable looking fish!

    Wee Tang(K) Project !

You can bet your bottom dollar I will! With the chances of finding more Lestradea next to zero, I have been looking at Enantiopus 'Kilesa' or Xenos, but as usual, there's too many fish I want!

    Wee Tang(K) Project !

They certainly look happy in there, I'm sure they'll get down to it now they are secure and aren't being pushed out anymore! Shame the background went a bit icky but you're right, it looks alright from the front!

    Getting A New Tank!

I think I'll probably go down the FX5 route plus one of my existing filters. If I used the 405 I'd take the opportunity to change the tubing though as that awful ribbed stuff just kicks out so much crud when restarted even after I clean them  .

    Getting A New Tank!

I was going to sell it for about £50 as it is just the tank and stand, no equipment and it was second hand when I got it. It'll be a good month or more though as the new tank will have to be in first ;) I'll have to weigh up between a sump and the 2 fx5s. Hmmm...

    Getting A New Tank!

Thanks Lisa, I may well take you up on that! I've seen a few sump tanks on AC recently but as I say, I wouldn't know where to start! Although I do remember seeing something on another cichlid forum about sumps... Minnnt, the 240l will be up for sale for a very low price once the new tank...

    Getting A New Tank!

Just started the ball rolling on a new 6x2x2 tank from ND Aquatics :hyper: . They have a few tropical tanks on offer at the moment and I've had the thumbs up from the husband (so long as I get rid of the 240l that it's replacing). This will be the first brand new tank I've ever had and I'm...

Do I Need To Clean My Filter?

You do use dechlorinator? It sounds like when you did the water change something has caused the tank to start cyclig again. I'm no expert on that though so regarding that it may be worthwhile starting a topic in the 'New Tanks' section to find out why this is happening as there has to be a...

    So...i Drank Aquarium Water...

Forgot to mention that one of my dogs drinks mine too. When I do a water change I top up her large tub of tank water! She'll only drink that and puddle or pond water unless she's gasping

    So...i Drank Aquarium Water...

I think many people have had a few mouthfuls of tank water when starting the syphon off (and petrol or diesel for the criminally minded!). I can't see a problem with the tank water, though the fuel is a different matter....

Do I Need To Clean My Filter?

    I Bought A "nemo"

I'm not sure if they sell dyed fish, but their tanks never look exactly top notch to me on the 2 times I've been there (I assume you mean the one in Romsey?) and there's never anyone there who actually knows what a fish looks like never mind anything else, especially as their tanks are never...

    Kiriyama`s New 6Ft Tank

They do look tiny in there! I love the layout personally, I don't know anything about Tropheus but I'm sure I'd be happy in there if I was one! On a side note, is that an ND Aquatics tank? If so, did you get the lighting through them or separately?

Thinking Of Trying An African Setup

This is my tank, bearing in mind that I also have sand dwellers so there is a large bare sand area for them. You can see the shell bed for the Neolamprologus multifasciata on the left and you could do something similar if you had the shell bed with about an 8" area of bare sand before the...

Thinking Of Trying An African Setup

Hi, I keep Rainbows with my Tangs and the 'bows are doing better in there than they were in a 'general' community. In fact they've decided it's actually worth breeding now! I reckon you could do the Tang/rainbow tank as you'd get the colour from the bows and if you set aside a purely sand area...

    Pics Of My Multies

Another big tank?! Where are you moving to - a 12 bed mansion!? I've had to agree to sell the 240l in order to get him to agree to a bigger one (he knew it was either a bigger tank or another dog  ). I think it helped that today I spent 4 hours driving him to central London and back to pick...

    Lestradea Perspicax Constructing A Bower!

It seems that I do have a male and female after all as the latest bower sems to have met her approval! i came down this morning to find them both in the nest, perfecting it and the male is chasing away anything that dares to come too close. There is a lot of flirting going on so with luck I'll...

Thinking About Starting An African Cichlid Tank.

Yeah, definitely just go for the one Julie if you go down the Tang community route! Unfortunately my lfs doesn't give great advice and I let my heart rule my head on that one. I've only recently converted my 240l tank to Tanganyikan and I'm already aching for a bigger tank. I considered Malawi...

    Fancy A Laugh ?

Have I read this right, you have 2 x 4 foot tanks and 1 x 6 foot tank? Water change day must be fun!! I'm getting moaned at by my husband about the Tang tank as it looks 'boring and bare'. My 120l is high tech planted and he wants the 4 footer to be the same - not a chance!

    Decisions, Decisions! Cyps Or Paracyps?

Fully grown? They are tiddlers, although a couple are showing some colour it's not good. There are some decent enough ones in a large tank under the 'for sale' tanks but these belong to the manager... Even those I wouldn't pay £22 each for!

    Fancy A Laugh ?

Well, at least you got it in the door - that would have been a bummer if it was stuck in the garden!

    Brichardis Terrorising The Whole Tank...

Sorry to hear that, my lfs is over run with them at the moment and they are breeding like crazy in their tanks (them and the bristlenose plecs!). Someone has obviously had a similar problem as you and the lfs now has 5 tanks full of brichardi and their fry plus the odd one that's jumped out into...

    Decisions, Decisions! Cyps Or Paracyps?

I have Rainbowfish in my tang tank and they get on great. Their colours don't show quite as well as they do in a heavily planted tank but they enjoy the water parameters. There's nowt wrong with using non-tang dithers in a tang tank if you ak me, especially when you see the price of cyps - £22...

    Your Wish List...

Now that would be cool!! I really don't know what I'd go for if I had no limitations and had to just pick one... Maybe a huge Tanganyikan sandsifter setup...
