    Cory deaths (and not pandas)

How would you recommend to clean the carbon and sponge along with the inside?

    Cory deaths (and not pandas)

I definitely will stop then as I am used to using it in my cichlid tank as they can get nippy with each other

    Cory deaths (and not pandas)

So I used the quick start in combination with some old gravel and decorations from my 10 gallon tank until everything balanced out to 0 for a few days (took about 2 weeks) I then started putting 2-3 fish in every 3-5 days

    Cory deaths (and not pandas)

That’s what I thought 0 Nitrates means as I never had an issue with them and this is the only tank I’ve had an issue with as my 75 gallon also has 0 with no issues. my GH is 160 ppm I do weekly water changes at about 50% All I add is aquarium salt and “prime” Yes I have a hanging filter that...

    Cory deaths (and not pandas)

I recently got a new one as the other one leaked, but normally I’d put the bio part in a bowl that has aquarium water I either replace the carbon or I rinse it out with tap water and let it dry and for the sponge I do the same. The filter itself I rinse it out as well with tap water and use a...

    Cory deaths (and not pandas)

The only plants I have in there are 6 moss balls and they’re all pretty small. How would the tank cycle have crashed as this has happened more than once

    Cory deaths (and not pandas)

I have a 29 gallon tank with sand substrate and a group of moss balls. The stocking originally was: 3 honey gouramis 3 bronze cories 5 San Juan cories Before I cleaned the water just now I noticed that I couldn’t see any but 2 of them..and of course after cleaning the tank, the stock is now...

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

If I were to go onto more of the nano realm I’d maybe go with the blue emperor tetras or some harlequin rasbora

Why this forum is a great place to ponder ideas!

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

Would the Phantoms be nippy with the gouramis? I will not then get more cories
  11. Stefan3289

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

    Apologies I did get them wrong it is a 30” by 18” by 12” (L W H)

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

I must’ve got the measurements as it is a 29 gallon marineland kit tank. I s i kept the tiger barbs prior to the gouramis and neon. I had a group of 10, but it didn’t go well so I am trying to avoid fin nippers
  13. Stefan3289

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

They would be with cories and honey gouramis

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

Is another name for it the “Royal tetra”? If so it looks amazing! Only thing is, I have never seen them anywhere, even on the website I order fish from. However, I’ll try to find them! However, no rush as I want to see what other people think!

Heavy breathing, shaking fins, scratching...whats wrong?

@Colin_T apologies for not replying earlier but it’ll be hard as usually whenever I get close to the tank they think either it’s food time
  16. Stefan3289

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

I think 6 would be a good starting point. Did your swim around middle/top or more bottom? As the top half of my tank is usually empty

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

I was thinking of getting black skirts, maybe even a bleeding heart tetra (somewhat similar to white skirt I believe if I have the name right). Only thing I am afraid is fin nipping, as the tiger barbs I had slowly killed each other out till I decided to return the few that were left.

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

Some of them look super pretty but most of the ones I’ve seen look beaten up and I feel as if they might be overbred, kind of like the cardinal tetra. That’s my only worry
  19. Stefan3289

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

Yes apologies so my GH is around 160 ppm (Moderately soft water) KH is 0 PH is 7 Tank demensions are 24” x 12” x 18” (L W H) Currently have a an open scape with two large bushy fake plants (I plan on getting real ones in the future since my lights can support) @Colin_T
  20. Stefan3289

Which group of tetras to get for 30 gallon

Currently have a 29 gallon with 3 honey gouramis, 8 Cory catfish (plan to get it to 10) and then 6 moss balls (if they really count) I was debating which group of fish I could add. I have tried tiger barbs and cardinal neons, but no luck. How many could I add of these? Black neon Emperor...

Heavy breathing, shaking fins, scratching...whats wrong?

So I currently have a 75 gallon with two severums and two acaras, and I noticed one of the acaras and one of the severums were shaking their fins, the acara was breathing heavy and swatting his body with his fins as if he was scratching. After 15 seconds it stops and then doesnt happen again...

Another issue with swim bladder (maybe hope)

Update: He has eaten a few pieces of the pea and is starting to swim around :) Is it possible that he will now be ok? I will keep away from the dry foods for a while and will feed him peas and probably will go buy blood shrimp.

Another issue with swim bladder (maybe hope)

So I noticed I didn’t see my PB parrot convict out, and when I finally found him, he was trying to swim at the bottom of the tank, but was upside down. I took him out and put him into a quarantine tank I had running and I put him in a breeders net to minimize moving. I tried to give him peas...

    Angelfish with severums and acaras?

So I have a 75 gallon with the stock of: 2 severums (1 gold 1 spotted) 2 EBAs (I also have a seperste questjon that I will post about them below) 1 Polar blue parrot convict cichlid (my little jellybean :D ) 1 synodontis (who is almost 9 years old compared to the rest that are 1 year olds)...

    Pondering 75 gallon addition

My gh is 160 ppm and my kh is 0 I thought they were female as with the orange spotted males usually have squiggly lines while females don't, maybe it is too. young. Would all the options work with the EBAs and my little jelly bean? I thought firemouths can be quite aggressive.. However the...

    Pondering 75 gallon addition

My plan in the future is to add a group of medium sized catfish in the future and change the substrate to sand, so I would but I don’t think they would like that.
  28. Stefan3289

    Pondering 75 gallon addition

I also have acaras and then my jelly bean (which is the name for my PB) is still small so I would try to stay more in the mild manner and possibly around 3-6 inches compared to 8-10 as I have 2 severums
  29. Stefan3289

    Pondering 75 gallon addition

So another one of my acaras past away a few days ago (I believe there was something wrong with his brain as he was behaving very strange, would swim very weirdly, and wouldn't eat). All the other fish are doing great though especially Jellybean, the PB parrot convict I added. He is 2-4 times...

    Cory Shenanigans

So I have a 29 gallon (30” by 12” by 18” ) I have 3 honey gouramis 10 neon tetras 6 cories (1 albino, 3 green, 2 peppered) 4 of my cories past away, one of the green ones because of old age and the other three were pandas (never getting them again, sad to see they have been breed to last...

    Tumor or cyst?

Will do! Could just be a battle mark as sometimes the other severum chases after him.

    Tumor or cyst?

So I have been out for a few days from home and gave the responsibility to my older brother to keep with the tank, and I don’t think it turned out well. I noticed one of my severums has what looks like a cyst. Not sure if it was an open sore that got infected.. I am about to do a large water...

@Colin_T @AdoraBelle Dearheart @Deanasue Could you post some pictures of his fins? Could you also post water parameters?
