Thank you for all your input! I’ll do a large water change today and then head to my LFS to see which of those plants they have. Is there anything else I would need to do such as specific timing for lighting, some kind of water conditioner? I have never kept live plants in my aquarium.

I could try to increase the female to male ratio but I am not sure if I should add more fish I have a 29 gallon with currently 7 mollies, otherwise they are doing fine and not targeting her so I think it will be ok.

I see I have used the wrong word and made some people angry. I meant ground cleaner as in just will eat food off the ground like a catfish, not syphon the gravel for poop as yes that is my job. Perhaps a better word would have been bottom dweller😅

I have a tank of South American cichlids so they sometimes can get a little nippy. However, on one of my fish looks like in between the fins there is some white film or silk looking stuff. This has happened before and goes away just making sure.

So do we think the main issue was the salt that was slowly killing them of rather than a cycle crash? Are neon cardinals also sensitive to salt? I performed a water change yesterday and didn’t add salt and I plan on doing another one tomorrow.
