    O.d. Of Seachem Prime?

The second water change was just over 50%. They are all still okay. If there was going to be a problem, would I have seen it by now do you think, or should keep worrying?

    O.d. Of Seachem Prime?

I did a water change on my 55gallon tank today and while refilling, accidentally dropped about 30-40 ml of seachem prime in the water. The recommended dose for my tank size is 5ml. It says you can use up to 5times the dose under certain circumstances, but that would still only be 25ml. A quick...

Yeah, the endler guppies are awesome. Very striking. Another fish I wish I could have.

I'm sorry, I meant to say celestial pearl danio, not rasbora.

Nano Iwagumi Planted "serene".. That's The Goal!

According to Seriously Fish, celestial pearl danios should be kept in large numbers to disperse the aggression of the males. Seriously Fish seems to be a respected source. Read what they say on the subject to see if your tank suits the requirements of that species.

Hi SlippyGuppy! You joined for the same reasons I did. I also found superior advice and enthusiasm here. :)   I am no expert by any means. I am still a novice, so please keep that in mind when weighing my suggestions. You asked about small fish that do well in hard water. While I have no...

Ever Get The Feeling You Are Being Watched?

The Pearl gouramis are probably wondering where the rest of their dinner is. I've been trying to mend my overfeeding ways. The little stiphodon cocked her head to look at me when I scooted a little closer. Fish have interesting personalities/behaviors, don't they? :)

Ever Get The Feeling You Are Being Watched?

My flame tetras (I call them the nosy neighbors of the tank) always have to taste my arm whenever I have to reach in for any reason. Hey, it might be food, you never know if you dont try, right? Ha ha!

    Is This Lymphocystis?

In the previous photo, the dark color makes the lump look like a hole, but it is indeed a lump. I think the convex quality can be seen better in this photo, even though it is less well focused. The second photo is of his little bubble nest that he built under a lily pad from the banana plant. I...

    Is This Lymphocystis?

I will update this post as time goes on, in case it might help anyone else in the future. Two photos below show Cannonball's progress. One is in mid April when it was looking so much better. The lump seemed to shrink, not fall off, but the edges of the area stayed a bit raised. The other photo...

    Green Algae Id?

I looked up the different algae types mentioned and it does look most like Cladophora. Thank you, Byron and Charlie for the diagnosis.   I hand-removed as much of it as I could. We'll see what happens...

    Green Algae Id?

I agree about the lights being bright in that aquarium. The photo looks a little worse than it really is, but they are bright. The banana plant is trying to help with the overhead lighting by shooting up lily pads. If this one is as happy as the ones in my 55 gallon, I'll have 4 - 5 lily pads...

    Would This Restock Plan Work?

I have never seen mine dig deeper than their head, so if they are all like that, then a rather shallow layer of sand should be sufficient, yes?

    Green Algae Id?

10 gallons Nitrates almost zero (this is typical for me) Nitrites 0 Ammonia 0 The biggest differences now from when I first set this up 5 or 6 months ago, are that there is now only one Betta fish in this tank (10 gallon), and because of the Betta, I adjusted the flow to be quite minimal. All...

    Green Algae Id?

Is this green hair algae? It is in my 10 gallon tank. It has been on a piece of driftwood ever since I bought it months ago. It has grown a bit but I never saw it anywhere else until recently. It is on a Java fern plantlet root. If this is hair algae, do you think I can remove it by hand? Thank you.

    Would This Restock Plan Work?

Hi cooledwhip! In the picture, your substrate looks like it has rough edges. If this is the case, it would be best to look for a different kind of bottom dweller because it is the rough edges that can cut the cories' whiskers. Cories are adorable, but they do not eat algae, it's best to keep...

    55Gal Goal Is Planted, Peaceful

A LFS had a pot of giant hair grass, so of course, I HAD to get it! Also got a lace leaf plant, which I've been wanting but couldn't find for the longest. Hopefully the lace leaf will do okay. I've read they can be difficult. I put it under the banana plant lily pads for a little shade. I guess...

    10 Gallon Planted Betta Tank

Here's the latest rescape of Cannonball's kingdom. He likes to patrol his territory, making sure all is well in his world. The plants that I can remember are: anubias, Java moss, java fern, cryptocoryne, dwarf baby tears, Brazilian pennywort, banana plant, and a moss ball. A piece of driftwood...

I don't have any guidance but I am intrigued and will be following this thread with interest. I have to thank you for introducing me to the term "iwagumi". I have seen this style, but did not realize it had a name. I can research it properly now that I know what it is called. Thank you! :)

Can I Add Salt In A Tank With...

Hi bamf. I had good luck using artemiss on 2 tiny patches of fungus on a fish that I got recently. It is supposed to be safe for all aquatic life, including plants. It did not clear up one spot on his eye, but I'm not sure that particular spot is fungus. Byron is 100% right about the mollies...

    What's With The Exclusive Area?

I agree with RCA.   I use this forum rather than others because it seems to have the largest number of experienced people who post. Other sites abound with people replying things like, "Gee, I don't know. I haven't had that before." or "I'm not sure, but I've read that..." If I have a question...

So, I tried extra hard to not overfeed and judging by my guilt level, I think I succeeded. They give me those eyes! The "that's it?" eyes. I just remind myself that I am NOT starving them, no matter what they seem to be telling me.

    55Gal Goal Is Planted, Peaceful

Ha ha!! Our Betta (in a 10 gallon tank, not this one) hasn't really been much of a begger so far. But that might be because he actually eats small pond snails so isn't as hungry as he might be otherwise. Got to love a fish that eats those blasted pond snails! :)

    55Gal Goal Is Planted, Peaceful

Wow! That's awesome! I also have the 2 stiphodons, but they are tiny and don't bother anyone. They also don't seem to care about the others. I usually do weekly water changes anywhere between 30% - 50%, depending on how things look. I think I still might be overfeeding. I am so afraid for them...

First the corys: I read that 6 is the minimum number of corys. I thought the peppered and bronze would be 6 together, but their behavior suggests to me otherwise. So, I am fully convinced that the peppereds need friends but I don't want to overstock. I don't really think 4 more would make that...
