I had to get up early to go cover another store that my district just acquired.

My in laws and my parents get along swimmingly. They are all just loud.

I have both inlaws at my house at the moment. My parents have been up the entire week. Hubby's parents came up today. I can't wait till I have a quiet house again. I don't want to see my electric bill for this month.

Here is an update of the tank. Bought the grow light. Plan to fix it so I can remove the tank light. Will most likely buy another light and put them at an angle. Lost a few more Cory cats. I don't think I'll be replacing them once they pass on. I may get some guppies instead. I have not had...

Update on radish sprouts: Debating also buying a grow light that can be raised above the tank for the sprouts. Really just debating the cost as one light is $50 and is for a 10"x20" space. So I'd need at least one, maybe two.

Sprouts are still going strong. It is nice to know my attempt at aquaponically growing vegetables and herbs has worked for at least now. Now the rush to raise the lamp up off the tank really begins. I was a little nervous it wasn't going to work at first.

Fair fair. It's a thirty gallon tank and with time I'd be able to update it to whatever is needed. I've got two Aqueon QuietFlow 30 filters rated for up to 45 gallons each. I've got a preset for 78° F and while I have small pebble gravel with plant substrate, I am working to switch it to sand.

I don't know. I think I saw tea seeds but it also might have been something else. I can't find my giant book of seeds from them.

What fish would work with my water? Also, I don't plan to add any fertilizer.

As far as I know cory cats, mollies and platies don't need caves or wood... I'm working on getting the sand for the cory cats as well.

I honestly have no freaking idea what I'm going to use. Maybe wood, but not sure. Will see what they have at PetCo and decide from there.

Okay, maybe I'll treat my dad while he's up this week and take him with me to PetCo and get some stuff for that. I think he already had a plan for Home Depot so I'll see about getting the sand there. Also, I always read your username as "slaphappy" and I always giggle.

You might want to try checking out Baker Creek Seeds. They sell heirloom seeds and I *think* they have tea seeds. I can't remember. But I've had amazing luck getting their seeds to grow with no issues.

Fair. I've never know what aquatic plants I've gotten as most times it just says if it's a mid range, back, or front of the tank plant. I could see if I still have the tubes they came in. I have most of the bags and stuff near the tank.

I don't know what they are. I just grabbed four plants that looked the same at PetCo. I've had similar ones before and had them planted in the substrate with no issue. So I want to say not java fern.

Whelp, I'm doing something right. My aquatic plants are putting out roots and baby plantings.

Well, they aren't suppose to be in the tank. I'm using them in replace of leca beads for growing plants. I just was impatient and put the Orbeez in the plant container and they spilled into the tank.

I normally don't feed on a water change day. I feel like it negates me just doing a water change.

Photos of why you let Orbeez FULLY expand before adding them to aquaponic grow bed. As you can see in the third photo, they disappear very quickly.

What brand of ammonia did you use? It might have had some form of soap in it.

I'm not planning on adding anything nutrient wise for the plants. I'm literally only going to be absorbing what they put out. I've done this before on a very small scale (one gallon kit) and it only failed because of the size of the tank (because let's face it, nothing really fits in a one...
