    Siamese algae eater

SAE get big so if you don't have something large enough for them to be swimming in comfortably then I would not get them. My adult SAE is easily over 4" now. If you're looking for something to clear algae get nerite snails or Otto's. Yes my SAE eat algae, but they also eat everything else. I...

    Dipping Into The Salty Side

Lol, so a bit of a redo on my 10 gallon. I was getting a really nasty case of cyano bacteria, so I put in some chemiclean in. Two days later it was pretty much gone. The tank was pretty disgusting though, all sides were covered in algae. So I decided that I would do a deep clean on the tank...

    Slimmed Down Fish Room Journal

It was ridiculously easy to slide back in behind the plastic board. Filled the tank back up and the water level in the corner matches the tank. Faster and easier than I thought. Very glad it's done.

So, the 125 has a corner Matten Filter that has the intake of the FX6 behind it, providing the suction to pull water through the sponge. Traditionally it's run with a water pump behind the sponge and that provides the flow and there is a PVC pipe that the water is pushed back on the other side...

Lol, looking forward to it whenever that will be.

    What are you doing today?

Ditto, but wound up doing a WC on my 6 gallon, missing the snake enclosures, laundry and a couple other little things around the house. Why do I feel bad/guilty when I try to take a day to just relax?

What stage of fish keeping are you?

So I have gotten up to 18, but never did #14 or did #1. Not interested in leveling to 19,20, 22, 23. Don't think #24 is anything other than a myth... If you have more than one tank number 24 is never going to be an option. I would love to do number 21 though. Fresh Water Exotics actually...

I'm not sure if you would have products similar to what I used since I just use our local hardware store. For the background I use the pink foam that is commonly used for insulating over here, it's not the expanded foam but the extruded foam. For the waterfall feature I used the canned pond...

Will any of these fish eat cherry shrimp?

A 5 gallon tank would be perfect for shrimp. If you wanted to you can add a very small rasbora species like the chili rasboras or any other rasbora of a similar size. I have them together and a shrimp tank and never had any issues with predation.

Will any of these fish eat cherry shrimp?

The pleco's not going to do anything to the other fish if that's what the problem is that you're talking about? The dwarf gourami and the Rams should get along just fine is the gourami going to be at the top level the tank and the Rams should be at the mid or lower level of the tank. If...

Will any of these fish eat cherry shrimp?

Shrimp are the bases of the food chain so anything that can fit a shrimp in its mouth will eat it. So I would say no on the shrimp. You're okay with the other stocking. If you want shrimp go with the nano tank and just do shrimp. If you want some fish and the nano tank I would do something very...

Any opinions on Asian Stone Catfish (Hara jerdoni)?

I agree they're very fun fish. I don't see them socializing but I do have them in groups of at least five. Did you like a sandy bottom and a lot of leaf litter and if you keep your tank dim you will see them out.

The way that females keep a sorority is because they're used to each other's hormones/ pheromones in the water. If there's a slight change in the water where one of them is not recognized by the others, then the others will attack the now unknown beta, it's what they do. People think that...

What is the tank temp? How about substrate? These loaches are cooler/coldwater and prefer sandy substrate. My guess it that the irritation is due to substrate and possibly too warm waters.
