No, corys need to be with 6 of their own kind ideally and you need a 20 gallon minimum unless you are going with something small like a pygmy cory. Even then I wouldn't do anything other than your betta in the 5 gallon.

Why do you think your pH is too low? My LFS specializes in saltwater tanks and they use RO water with a pH of about 6. If you want to raise your pH I know there are substrates out there which will raise pH and you can add something like crushed coral as well. I'll let others chime in but...
