Looks near perfect. You might try terracing one of the set ups to allow even more diversity and interest.

    rotala not doing well

This is true. I just bought a rotala that was kept in dim light at a petmarket type store and it looks like yours. It too is just adapting to better light and care.

    rotala not doing well

Try more iron. It doe more than help red plants..its a real boost to most plants. It might not work as fast on newly planted plants- their root systems still in shock..but older plants kick it when iron goes in.

    Is AquaBid legit?

Unlike the bargains I was hoping to find- everything on aquabid is top dollar. That's before you add high shipping for things that need to be kept warm and get there fast. UK.APS Has great deals on tropical plants...until you realize nothing can be imported. They could be free and still no deal.

    Moss and bogwood

Shrimp are fine..for a few no filter is needed. But! they breed don't they? So you might look for a tiny pump and filter or sponge filter. Heat needed in the winter.

    Mother Fern hybrid- growing underwater?

All three have tiny croziers, this is the most advanced. Princess fern in the backyard(bottom right) and the plantlet underwater in the aquarium. Whole planting glued to wood isnt much but looks ferny.

    Mother Fern hybrid- growing underwater?

"Maori Princess" is big garden fern for me outdoors and its related to the common Mother fern house and garden plant depending on what your climate is. Well, reading that the princess is a hybrid of Asplenium oblongata a fern of shady stream banks. Have had it for 20 years or more. Well,the...

    Moss and bogwood

Ages aquarium water is best to start- no need for it to be the dirty stuff from the gravel or filter. No need for a heater this time of year. I've seen plenty of plant aquariums lush with not even a single fish. Plants don't need fish, they need light and water conditions that are appropriate...

    Moss and bogwood

I looked it up before and they said liters was valid..as I recall.-_- Iron rules low tech plant tanks..that and plenty of light but that's a given even newbies know. I push that iron and have not noticed any side effects. BBA is still there, but less if anything.

    Moss and bogwood

Sometimes I'm heavy handed..but not more than double. ..or two tablespoons for 920 liters of water as they say in Europe. Not much every day seems to work better then weekly heavy dose.

    Moss and bogwood

My aquarium is 240 gallon and I add like 2 teaspoons worth about every day, some days I skip. Its really made a difference.the swords grow larger by the day. This is the other day. I tell you Ozelot 'red'? Is a true centerpiece plant for the larger planted tank.

    Where to get aquascaping ideas?

On the tube? MD for lush aquariums with no Co2. George Farmer for high tech and sometimes low. Biotopia has gone from vids of wild rivers in Brazil and the underwater flora and fauna to now doing aquariums to resemble rivers in species. MJ (not to be confused with MD) specialty is high tech...

    Moss and bogwood

IMO,Iron is pretty much all the fertilizer you need. Chelated. I've found even the one sold at Home Depot in liquid for $11 a gallon does work. For all types of plants. A little a day keeps the yellows away. So far its gotten some swords to just explode, mosses to deep green then ever...

    Glass/ Plexiglass hood?

Go glass for a small aquarium. At 30" it will bow in acrylic- a sure thing. Also, very hot lights will speed that up. Like the others said.

Heck, carefully open a tea bag, replace tea with peat, restaple. That should be enough for an average size aquarium.

    Cyanobacteria.

If you are running normal levels of light one treatment can do that to cyano. But for high light? Almost nothing is 100% permanent..but keeps it down to unseen. One thing that never works is remove by hand and or big water changes. You have to upgrade your filtering, lower the organics. You...

Crayfish will eat those fish. Then eat all the plants. They are not compatible with anything as far as I know.
