Plant growing on top of another plant

Looks like Java Fern. Baby plants will form on the leaves. Looks like several plants are planted in the sand. The plant should be attached to a piece of wood, rock, or decoration with string, rubber band, or Gel Super Glue. If planted in the sand, the roots will rot.

    Finished setting up my tank!

Beautiful collection of plants. Plant info. The plant at the very front left corner is a Windelov Java Fern. It should not be planted but instead attached to a rock or wood or tank decoration. The plant has a rinzone (spelling) that will rot if buried in substrate.

    Airation

In my community tank I have a sponge filter and a HOB (hang on back) filter. For the sponge filter you need an air pump and you can also have an air stone if desired. The air pumps are fairly inexpensive. You need the pump, a gang valve for splitting the air into two lines to either another...

    Amazing Algae Eater

Since my Otos have been in the 20 community tank they have discovered Shrimp pellets. They love them. Now I don't have to worry about them starving. They have kept the tank spotless and they readily eat the Veggie wafers and Shrimp pellets.

Please make sure that all water that you add is the same temp. as the tank water. You don't want to chill the fish with a temp drop.

Here is a picture of my platy 5 days before she dropped her young. I was just trying to get some decent pictures and didn't realize there would be a reflection. Just kept snapping hoping to get a few good shots. Also, in the picture, is one of my Ottocinclus. Man are they industrious...

    Staining/sealing 125 gallon aquarium stand

I agree with Colin. You need to decide what color stain you want. Then check and see if you can get a stain/sealer/combo. Makes life much easier. I did that with the stand I built. Came out real nice. Just clean it good and lightly sand and then get all the dust and dirt removed first...

What to do with my guppies

I had Koi ponds for a number of years in Western Washington. I doubt Koi will eat them. The platys would hide and could probably out run them. They will probably die from the cold.?? Try putting a free ad in Offerup or Craigs List. If you lived near me, I would like to have them.

    Hello Friends

Plant, check out Water Sprite. Great. Can be planted, little plants form on the leaves. You can then remove them and let them float. Roots hang down Great for fry and the fact that you get alot of bang for the buck.

    Algae on sand

It was my understanding that fine sand like that is hard for the plant roots to penetrate. It packs easily. I have a mixed rounded gravel in my tanks. The plants are all growing great. I use plant tablets pushed into the sand under the roots, once a month. Liquid fert once every two weeks.

Quin, here is the formula for calculating the gallons of your tank. Multiply the height times the length times the width divided by 231 = gallons. Veery close.

Without a gang valve, air will go to the end of line with the least resistance. You need a gang valve. Then you can regulate how much air goes to each line.

The Handbook of Tropical Aquarium Fishes by Axelrod and Shultz says their native range is from South Carolina to Mexico in lowland streams. Another sailfin molly which is very similar is native to Yucatan.

    Amazing Algae Eater

Hi, I got the Omega One's Veggie Rounds as suggested above. Within a couple of hours all three of my Otos were eating the 1/2 wafer I dropped into the QT tank. Every time I check on them at least 1 is at the now softened Veggie Round. Thanks for the suggestion. Now I won't worry that they...
