🐠 TOTM VOTE NOW - January 2024 Tank of the Month Contest (17 to 30 gallons)

This is my 20 gallon tank, one of the first aquaruims I started. I started without plants and I've gradually tried adding different ones and let the ones that do well grow out. Probably going to add some more soon I think. The current livestock is not the same as what it started with. Most of of...

    The Ocean's Cleaners

The seabed is surprisingly clean considering the amount of waste, both natural and man-made, that gets dumped in the oceans. So how does the ocean do it? https://www.thenakedscientists.com/articles/science-features/oceans-cleaners

    Growing Guppies

Yes, it is acutally. I had it in my pond I think. Or maybe in one of my other aquaruims. There may be some in the pond still but hard to see in there (bunch of hornwort and floaters). It grows well in this tank, not too fast. I don't dose this tank with anything for the plants (except I've been...

one of my tanks is slowly starting to develop into an Asian tank

Yes, I've had a single Panda Garra for about 1 and a half years now in my 55 gallon community tank. It's something different then the fish and snails. It goes all around and eats of the tank walls and decor. Mine likes the occasional algae wafer too.

    Old decorations?

Yup, I've even reused sand and gravel substrate without issue.

    New Nerite Snail Acclimation Time?

What kind of algea do you have? I know they eat soft film algae, soft green algae, soft brown algae, and brown diatoms but other types not so sure.

    Growing Guppies

Some guppies I raised from fry. A total of six of them. They were birthed from a new purchase @ LFS. Parent(s) in my main tank atm.

My first saltwater tank - Aqueon Frameless Cube Aquarium, 3 Gallon

Installed new pH and Temp monitor today. ( Amazon ). The box on the product says it has online monitoring but it doesn't. This is a fairly cheap monitor so I may upgrade to something better eventually. Also moved water level sensor to back of tank. Seems like better place away from water flow...

    Best YouTube channels

These are the freshwater ones I regularly watch and are informative and knowledgable. Some are independant but most run a business selling fish, plants, and other hobby related things and have been doing so for a while now. Nerite snails

AFAIK nerite only breed in brackish water. I do see small white eggs plants on usually rock or wood but those are bladder snail eggs, at least in my tanks, I'm pretty sure. I don't think I've ever seen them on the sponge filters though.

Both API Ammo Lock and Seachem Prime say about the same thing. Care for mystery snail

So I guess this one Crystalpro Shrimp Minerals or this one GlasGarten Mineral Junkie Bites ? I give the single Mystery snail I have algae wafers, unsalted green beans, and blanched kale. But, might try one of those two as well.

Urgent help: my fishes are dying day by day

Phosphates don't really do anything to the fish. However, they do feed algae which can cause algae blooms.

    I never knew this

I suppose if you mess up and feed too much or there's death in the tank causing ammonia spikes that would be true. There's plenty other reasons to see bubbles, as Ichthys mentioned probably the most common one. Here's a good list of all the reasons for bubbles in the aquaruim -->...

    Lack of oxygen emergency

While this is true for most fish I think it's worth mentioning there are exceptions to the rule like our anabantoid friends. They prefer low surface aggitation and breath air from the surface as well. When I was new to keeping fish I didn't know that about a betta I bought because it was in a...

Have You Tried Dwarf Water Lettuce?

I've had some in my small pond in the back yard in the past, definitely overtook the surface. The do the same thing that frogbit does, throws runner stems out to grow a new plant.

    Anubias flowered!

Acutally, yes. This one. The flower is a bit bigger on the houseplant though. I'm not sure what it's called. I have propegated it once so far into this pot. The mother plants is in this pot.
