    What is this (BBA?)

Hard to say in the pics. Black beard would be stringy (like beard hairs). I didn't know blue-green could be black, interesting.

    Python executive summary

I use the Python gravel vac for my larger tanks (20 and 55 gallon). I will use the water fill but only during summer months as the water is too cold out of the outside water connection. I don't have an inside tap that will connect the Python. I hope to fix that eventually as carrying the...

    Nerite snails

That being said, I've had fish deaths at that same store. I assume due to the source they get the fish and perhaps because they don't have a proper way to quaratine before putting out to display for sale. But, for the most part snails and shrimp I've gotten there seem ok.

    Nerite snails

I got all my nerites at Petco. Not really had many issues with them. But each Petco store could be a different story. And if there's an employee change it could either mean better tank maintenence or worse so things could change as well.

Bitten Good by the Saltwater Bug

I've only kept a 3 gallon saltwater. So only had snails, hermit crabs, and coral in it. Not large enough for fish. The coral have been a challenge and I've found that I can mostly only keep soft corals. Big part of it is learning how to configure my lighting correctly as I'm using a programmable...

I got this hydrometer from Bulk Reef Supply. Very nice. And I use a refractometer to check the tank levels Amazon

NEED HELP! High nitrite and low nitrate

A fully cycled tank should have zero ammonia and zero nitrites and some nitrates. If you have fish in the tank while it is cycling you should do more frequenct water changes to keep the levels at bay so the fish don't suffer. A good cycle is indicated by having an ammonia source that is cycled...

    Python cleaners

Hmmm, that is odd then. I did use a similar pump to fill my tanks but it recently stopped working. And, it was a bit slow to fill due to the hose size and strength of the pump. Make sure the hose is mostly straight up and down, and not trying to push water sideways, I've seen that will lessen...

    Python cleaners

This is due to the pump strength. You can put the water with the pump in an elevated position, or over the tank, and it will go faster. If you have a stronger pump it will work without issue, depending on how high you are trying to push the water. I typically use this to pump water back into my...

Guppy fry I've been growing in my 5 gallon Tetra Crescent tank

Here is a picture of what the mother looked like (on the left with the red blue tail. And what one of the baby fry is going to end up looking like (black and yellow tail on the right. I had a few of them already born a while back and this is the grown up version.

Guppy fry I've been growing in my 5 gallon Tetra Crescent tank

Yes, mother was one of the panda guppy I posted in previous threads. The father I think is the one I put in the most recent Fish of the Month contest. Not sure what kind that one is. They all have black and yellow tails from what I can tell.

I just let it float. You could probabaly use a stone or something to keep it down, but I usually end up uprooting it when cleaning anyways.

    20 gallon tank question

I feel the word nano should only apply to really small tanks, like under 15 gallons. Then above that should be known as REGULAR size until you get to like 50 gallons. Then 50 gallons is MEDIUM size. Then you get to 150 gallons and it's a BIG/LARGE size tank.

    Help diagnose sick guppy

I have a female guppy that has a bent spine like this after giving birth. This is known as scoliosis. From what I read it's due to inbreeding in the fish trade, but can also occur due to poor feeding and bad tank conditions. There's no cure for it. The fish I have that has it still swims around...

    Nicrew lights water resistance?

I would agree on the saltwater. Nicrew does make one for saltwater though Amazon Not sure why the pic on the Amazon item page shows the other type of light and not the one shown in the pictures in the Nicrew store though. Oh, I see, you click on the pictures to see the store page for those...

    Nicrew lights water resistance?

Oh I see. So you would have to move one of hte lights away from the other to program it but can't really control anything else with it unless you want to affect both at same time.

    Nicrew lights water resistance?

    Nicrew lights water resistance?

Yeah, I've not seen any that do wireless remote, or via phone app for the Nicrews I've used. All have been wired into the light.

    Nicrew lights water resistance?

I use all Nicrew lights. I've not had any issues with using them. I've partially dropped them in the water a few times and no damage. I used the ClassicLED Plus with add-on dimmer/timer when I first started out but have since replaced several of them with SkyLED Plus. The SkyLED Plus has a...

    Betta Looks Unhealthy

It's possible. As long as you aren't overfeeding. You'd only really know if you could test the water to make sure the nitrates weren't getting too high. I'm not too sure about no water filteration/movement and how that affects the parameters.

    Betta Looks Unhealthy

Cheapest bottle of ammo lock you can get is like $7 on Amazon. Surpised the owner didn't give you some to take care of the fish while you had it.

    Betta Looks Unhealthy

It depends on the source water. So say you have well water you don't really need to treat for chlorine or chloramines on new water. But if you have water treated by a municipality you would want to use a water conditioner that treats for chlorine/chloramines. My source (tap) water is treated...
