It takes a long time for salt to get out of an aquarium…

Evaporation does concentrate the salt into the water that is left, but topping off or only doing small water changes leaves the salt still in the water. Once you raise the water level to what it was before the salt content should return the what it was before evaporation. That's why in...

    Tank Set Up for Fry

You shouldn't have that much to really clean when they are small. Since you are keeping them in their own tank it should be easy. Any substrate will do but go with sand if you are going to keep something like corys in there. Floating plants are always a plus! The other plants are optional imo...

    Endler/Guppy Hybrid

Nah, I wanted more in that tank just the betta was boring. Plus the betta has some company now. I don't see any aggression from the betta at all. People always say betta must be by themselves but it seems they are only agressive to their own species. At least the kind of betta I have it seems.

Is this guppy male or female

I always refeerence this when trying to distinguish between male and females guppies --> How to Identify Male and Female Guppies Pay close attention to the bottom fin. It's longer in the males, the females tend to fan out more.

    Curved back Guppy

I have one guppy that looks like this. She has scoliosis (bent spine). She didn't have this condition when I first got her I think it occurred after giving birth to fry. Not much you can do about it. As 10 Tanks has mentioned it's most likely a brought on by a birth defect/genetic issue or by...

Building process of the air tank

I was curiuos about what air tank means as well. If I were to guess, it appears an air tank is designed to make it look like the fish are floating in the air. Just a guess though.

    Identify please

I was also hinted that if you have too much wood to water ratio that it could cause too much algea growth. I have bad green hair algea in my small 5 gallon with a large peice of wood in it. The reasonsing for it is due to the wood decaying and producing nutrients needed to sustain the algea.

    Fish keeping is too stressful

In the past, I purchased 12 very nice and healthy looking guppies and the next day all but one of them were dead, and took a couple of the fish I already had in the tank with them. Not sure what the issue was with them. The one I did keep was a female, she got pregnant and had fry and now has...

Should I do a water change?

To add to this, the waste from fish and dieing plants produce ammonia which then converts to nitrites and then the nitrites convert to nitrates. In an established (cycled) tank the ammonia and nitrites will be converted very quickly to nitrates so fast that you don't detect them at all during a...

My first saltwater tank - Aqueon Frameless Cube Aquarium, 3 Gallon

I've been doing weekly water changes to keep the nitrates around 5ppm. They go up to around 10ppm usually but last time was 20ppm. I haven't been adding anything extra other then Seachem Reef Carbonate once, usually after the water change. pH stays around 8.4 to 8.5. Recently lost the trochus...

Seachem Clarity or API Accu Clear is supposed to help with this as well. I've never used either before but heard that it works along with a good filter.
