Fluval Marine Nano LED Light Review

https://fluvalaquatics.com/us/shop/product/marine-3-0-nano The light is great, with a couple of exceptions. There's no on-board battery so the time sync is done via the bluetooth connection to your phone. If power goes out, the light defaults to whatever the Manual setting is. The Manual...

Angelfish in 40 gallon community tank?

If it's worth anything, I have two Angles in a 55 gallon community tank. They act much in the same way as what's shown in the video while occasionally chasing away other tanks mates. The tank isn't overstocked and fairly well planted and some decor has hiding spots as well. It would be more...

    Amazon community aquarium

I'm not certain this is true for all types of fish. It really depends on the natural habitat of the species whether or not they would like plants. Typically the plants would make the fish feel safe, espcially if you have a community tank and there are fish that like to hide from other fish, for...

    Ammonia readings

Not sure, on API's website it says "API® AMMO LOCK ammonia detoxifier is proven to convert poisonous ammonia into a non-toxic form. "

    Ammonia readings

Not sure I understand what you just said. Isn't the Ammo Lock a conditioner that dextoxifies ammonia? Your statement makes it sounds like that is what I should do but at first you say it isn't wise.
  6. Ram419

    Ammonia readings

Yeah, I'm still left with 0.25ppm ammonia after the Ammo Lock. So I think I'm still good with using it.

Oh yeah, I think you are right. The Water Changes thread? I just askings same question in there about Ammo Lock and thought this was the thread you were replying to.

    Ammonia readings

@Byron Yes, I"m aware. This was for my tap water that has 1ppm ammonia in it. Trying to lower that number during water changes.

    Water changes

@TwoTankAmin Yes, the container never completly drying out is a possibility. The tank with high nitrates has some plants, but it's been hard to keep them going in this tank for some reason. Not sure if b/c of corys. I just put a few more plants in it over the past week and the nitrates have...

    Ammonia readings

My tap has 1ppm ammonia in it. Nothing I can really do other then have plants that use it, or change to RO water and add my own minerals in. Well, I suppose one could use something like API Ammo Lock, forgot about that until just now. Not sure if anyone has any info on wheather or not that is a...

    Don't know what just happened!

I don't know but sounds to me like the food is contaminated. I wouldn't trust it tbh. Better safe then sorry but I suppose you could try feeding it to a single fish and see what happens to know for sure?

not the best luck with snails... other than pest snails, I can grow bumper crops of those...

I've had a few mystery snails die on my not long after purchase. And, if there isn't enough material in the tank for them to eat you really have to feed them. But, I've had one mystery snail that is almost 14 months old now, it was a small baby when I got it. So, it might not have that much...

    Food with frogbit

Some of the brands of sinking pellets sink quicker then others. I used to use Fluval Bug Bites Bottom Feeder Fish Food and they sank right away. The ones I have now Omgea One Catfish pellets take a while to sink. I'm definitely going back to the Fluval Bug Bites next time I buy.

My first saltwater tank - Aqueon Frameless Cube Aquarium, 3 Gallon

Just an update! All is still going well. The algae issue seems to have died down a lot! I've also had a single banded trochus snail for about 2 weeks now and it does a great job of eating the algae. The corals are looking great. Event the Kenya tree is showing signs of recovery, although small...

@TwoTankAmin Yes, there is a high nitrate problem in one of my tanks. That was the whole reason for delving into this discusion, to try and figure out why that was happening. I have 6 other tanks that don't have this problem. It is my belief that the nitrates got so high in the one tank due to...

🐠 TOTM VOTE NOW - October 2023 Tank of the Month Contest (17 to 30 gallons)

Hi all! This is my 20 gallon tank. It's one of the first tanks I started with. I actually had to restart the tank once but since then it has been running it for about 1 year 6 months lol. I've transitioned from fake plants to live plants since it has been started. I also have added sand...

    Water changes

@TwoTankAmin Here's a synopsis of the whole thing. The reason for the testing was I found water that that had over 40ppm nitrates in it. This was water I saved in a container becuase it wasn't used in the last water changes that were done. 9/27 Treated tap water with Ammonia 1ppm put in...

    MTS Warning!

That would be awesome! I think I"m at my limit. I setup a 10 GAL Q tank for new fish under my desk and my wife freaked a bit. I told her it's just a Q and Med tank. It's current on the shelf in the garage empty atm b/c I'm not using it. I do want a larger pond in the back eventually and plan to...

    Water changes

@Byron So here are the test results of the container water from 2 days ago and the tap water from today. So the very high nitrates I saw in my container water the other day must have had longer to build up and also perhaps had more ammonia as well? Is my understanding correct, that chloramine...

    MTS Warning!

The smaller tanks aren't as much of a chore so it wasn't so hard to add them in. And I use them primarly for raising the fry that I get. All my fry are almost ready for the bigger tanks. Except for the saltwater tank that I'm experimenting with corals. That only has snails or crabs, no fish as...

Thanks, I got a container full of treated tap water. Tests show ammonia but not nitrates atm. I'll test it in a few days and see what we get.

    Water changes

Ok, so just tested for ammonia in my tap and it has 1.0ppm. That is with and without a water conditioner applied. I just read that chloramine is ammonia, and my tap water is treated with chloramine. So the ammonia is being converted to nitrates in my container I guess. So I shouldn't keep my...

    Water changes

So I just tested my tap source water again, which I think I will start making a regular thing I do. Today, there is zero nitrates detected. So perhaps the nitrates from my source vary. I don't know yet if it goes above 10ppm but will find out soon enough if I keep testing it first before using...

I never can get that brown buildup off my decorations. Nerite snails eat it up though. Just invested in quite a lot of them and they are going to town.

    MTS Warning!

Yeah, my 55 gallon has 2 angels. It's a community tank so has several other types of fish in there. I think they are both males so no real aggression towards the other fish.
