All I know is I haven't had any algae on my tank walls in any of the 3 tanks I've put them in since I've added them. And yes, they eat the diatoms too.

Less light (duration and/or intensity); Can be acocmplished with floater plants. More plants. And, imo the best thing that has kept algae off the glass for me is nerite snails.

I did a little more searching and couldn't find any cherry shrimp in pictures like the ones we have with the stripe on it. Looks like this is actually a bamboo shrimp.

Ok, so I had bought a few shrimp but only ever saw one of them since I put them in the tank. I just saw one of the other ones and it's def an ammno. So I just got some random kind when them I guess.

If it's an consolation, I have 4 small guppy fry and 1 larger guppy fry in the tank right now for about a week and no issues. And the tank is a 5 gallon. And I don't usually see the shrimp, it hides in the foliage.

I was sold ammono shrimp but it doesn't look like pictures I find on the web. Is this ammano shrimp? I really like the stripe down the middle!

Oh, and don't forget to put the control valves in for the pump. Will allow you to turn up/down the air flow and prevent water from going into the air tube when power goes out. This kit has all you need for it ( Amazon )

An air pump and a foam filter imo is the best. There's a bunch of different kinds out there. If you want control over where the bubbles and flow go then you can use something like Amazon or Aquaruim Co-Op's Coarse Sponge Filter with Easy Flow Sponge Filter Upgrade Kit ).

Maybe next time they'll try your method.

Need something like Seachem Alkaline Buffer or API Proper pH to raise the pH and KH. There may be other methods but I don't know them.

I believe rock salt or kosher salt both are good to use in aquariums becuase they have no extra additives. An example of a salt you don't want to use is idodized table salt. Idoine is not safe for all forms of life that live in water so shouldn't be used.
