    Dwarf Sag

Most plants feed through both roots and water column so its best to have both ferys Dwarf Sag is a rooted plant obviously that sends out runners as such it needs nutrients in the substrate for root development. I use two types of root tabs to get a comprehensive nutrient bed. Seachem flourish...

I mixed my Magnesium sulphate with my chelated trace mix

Normally the magnesium sulfate will bond with tne chelate and will harden and be really hard to dissolve. If you can get it to dissolve in a bowl or cup then it should be ok, if not just dump it as you dont want chuncks in your tank.

    Upgrading to new tank

Take the fish out and put them in a bucket. If you can run the filter and heater in the bucket then that would be helpful. After fish have been moved make sure all equipment is off and then tranfer gravel and plants. Id take gravel out and put it in a bucket and rinse it as well as its going to...

My fish will only eat when I feed them

Fish are opportunistic eaters, meaning they eat when the opportunity presents itself. They can go days to a week or 2 without food so i wouldnt worry too much about them starving if you are feeding twice daily.

    Missing Bolivian ram

Angels need a far bigger tank then what you have them in and im surprised your jack dempsey hasnt killed all your fish. Getting the other RAM out ASAP would be recommended as they are a community fish not to be kept with large aggressive cichlids like dempseys and even tiger barbs and rainbow...

    Neon Tetra Issue

I had a neon with this, far as i could tell it was neon tetra disease which can be spread to other neons and fish when the neon dies.its a parasite As far as i know there is no cure. I put my neon down before it died as to not spread it to other neons. Havent seen it in any of my other neons...

    Flying foxes, workaholics!

Word of caution about flying foxes, they get about 6 inches and are a shoaling fish that belong in groups of at least 6, they also require long tanks with strong currents as they are a long slender muscular strong swimmer. While they do eat a lot of different kinds of algae once they get bigger...

things that people not into the aquarium hobby say or do that annoys you?

The pleco trade bugs me the most. Every fishstore has a million plecos most of which get really big and those same pet stores always recommend getting a pleco to " clean" the tank, to which most new fishkeepers think that means they dont need to do water changes. So many plecos get sold in too...

Help with new to me, cycled tank

Oscars are extremely dirty fish and moving an aquarium with water in it is going to stir things up from the substrate into a limited water column equals a concentration of nitrates. Id change all the water maybe even fill it and empty it again doing a really thorough gravel vac. The majority of...

    Dropsy in African Dwarf frog?

Hows her behavior? Is she acting sick? Is she swimming, eating, pooping? Having said that sand is better for them as the food sits on top of it and is easier to find. I never had any problem with food impaction on sand or sand impaction. In the wild they live on sand. Gravel is rougher on their...

Tank Ideas for a 60 Litre

You are pretty close to if not overstocked already. Id rehome or take back one of the gourami then fill out your corydora pack. They do better in larger groups. Then thats it. Good looking scape!

    Dropsy in African Dwarf frog?

Not sure if its dropsy or something else. Frogs tend to get food obstructions And or bloat and most food for the fish isnt good for them and they need more than scraps. Not only that but keeping them on gravel increases chance of bacterial infection as food gets stuck between gravel and rots...

Cycling my tank and this algae is on the leaves on my plants.

Also forgot to add if one has plants in the tank then might as well use the fertilizer. When plants arent provided with the amount of nutrients to grow algae will grow instead. The goal with plants is that they grow quickly enough to outcompete algae for nutrients, if the plants dont have enough...

Cycling my tank and this algae is on the leaves on my plants.

Algae is a sign of an imbalance in the tank. In new tanks brown algae is the most common, what you have on your plants is a form of hair algae which can kill plants. Tomm barr says the two most common nutrients in water that cause algae are ammonia and CO2. New tanks normally have higher ammonia...

Ram cichlids in a 29 gallon?

I keep tetras with my bolivian RAM. Currently neons and glo light tetra, ive also kept rummy nose and von rio flame tetra with them. Ive kept corydora with them, hasbrosus and pepper cory but i find that since RAMs are earth eaters and corydora ate bottom feeders that the bottom gets to crowded...

Red Cherry Shrimp - TDS help

TDS is total dissolved solids. RO water has 0 TDS so adding RO water isnt the solution. A product ive heard used to " condition" water for shrimp is called Salty shrimp. Ive never used it but apparently it is used to get water in ideal conditions for shrimp. Give it a look. There are lots of...

    Thinking about getting tiger barbs

Cherry barbs are good, maybe even rosy barbs, though they get a bit bigger and your sword tails may pick on them. Danios are good in long tanks with other really active swimmers or as dither fish for larger shy fish. Cherry barbs are easy hardy fish, as long as you have more females to males, i...

    Thinking about getting tiger barbs

Barbs are super active and semi aggressive fish who will love tearing up your guppies and other slower moving fish fins. Your GH is a bit hard for barbs as well, goid for live bearers not so much for barbs. Ive kept barbs in the past with danios( super fast) and rainbow shark, also semi...

What could I have done wrong?

Ive never used anything to cycle a tank other than fish food. Also no point in doing water changes during a cycle if no fish unless ammonia gets above 5ppm in which case the cycling process can stall.
