I have the same issue with my guppies and my 30 gallon LOTR tank. Seems like every week there are tiny fry showing up.

How to raise or lower PH

I lowered my water hardness by adding RO water like @mcordelia suggest and once I had it down to around 30ppm I maintain it there. My water PH has dropped a little also.

    Nutrition Tabs for plants.

Depends on your plants, I have sword plants that have roots and draw what they need from the soil, since I have sand I use the tabs.

    Nutrition Tabs for plants.

I use Seachem flourish comp plant taps for rooted plants like sword plants and flourish comp for plants that absorb what they need from the water like ferns and anubias.

    Seachem Excel

I also will not use Excel, I do use Seachem flourish comp at 1/2 dosage.

Anacharis keeps dying. Are there other fast growing plants that fill that niche?

Wide leaf anacharis is not legal but narrow leaf is where I live, I have been using salvinia and hornwort as floating plants lately.

    Ohhhh More fry ?

My tetra have had no fry since I changed my 55 gallon from my LOTR Castle theme to a more natural sunken forest theme:(. My guppies have the castle now and have had plenty of fry. Not that they need a castle or anything else for that matter to encourage them to have fry:rolleyes:

    Bush whackers

That would be cool, maybe an Imperial Walker too, they have them for tanks. I was tempted to buy a Star Gate but I already of a Castle theme tank. The funny thing is that when I had the castle in my 55 gallon tank with my tetras they were having fry and now with my more natural sunk forest theme...

Random buys but are they good buys

I currently of 2 tanks with hornwort in them. It is great for fry to hide in especially if it is floating. One down side is when it gets old and turns brown and the needle/leafs fall off and cover the bottom of the tank. Hornwort does a decent job oxygenating the water but it is good to run a...

I added anubias nana to my tetra tank

I removed most of the Java and Crested leaf ferns but left some of the seedlings in the tank. For now I am leaving the little potted anubias in the tank but may remove the pots as I find things to attach the anubias too. Petco has the little potted anubias plants for 4.99 USD each which is...

    Small Tanks Make Me Cross

I have to agree, most fish store usually have several overcrowded tanks, to many of them it is only a business. My local Petco is not too bad but the Petsmart always have overcrowded tanks.

I added anubias nana to my tetra tank

Thank you, we are all hanging in there my wife is getting around much better now and healing from the knee operation. I will have to update the pictures. I picked up some anubias in small pots at Petco and added them to the tank. As far as attaching the anubias I just stuck them through openings...

Anyone want to study refugium plants with me?

I have salvinia floating in my 55 gallon tetra tank. To be honest all I know is it absorbs the ammonia my fish produces and is green and turns brown when it dies. I leave the tank water low so the light reaches most of the salvinia and it gives shade to my tetras. Sorry I am not much help for...

    Tetra

I would consider doing a planted/silent cycle or using Tetra Safe Start plus to jump start your 10 gallon tank and quickly as possible. Neon tetras are not good to have in a tank that is cycling. They are not that hardy.

    Planted cycle

With a silent/planted cycle you are not as interested in growing the BBA. it is secondary to the plants. I only do silent/planted cycles and feel it is the natural way to make your tank safe for fish. With enough fast growing plants in your tank you will not have to worry about ammonia. The...

    New tank cycle (help)

You could try a silent/planted cycle but you would have to buy enough fast growing plants to absorb the ammonia produced by your fish. You could also try Tetra Safe Start Plus to jump start your tank. I am not a fan of fish in cycle cycling it can injure or kill fish that are not hardy enough.

    New to the Forums...

If you are thinking about doing a silent/planted cycle you should have plenty of fast growing floating plants that will absorb the ammonia and other fish waste. I only do silent/planted cycles on my tanks. It is a natural safe way of getting your tank ready for fish. Plants like frogbite and...
