Fish In Cycle of a New Tank 55 gallon Aqueon bundle kit

Do you have live plants in the tank? I only ask this because if you have enough plants they will absorb the ammonia and you will not have any nitrates or nitrites. It is called a planted or silent cycle. If I use chemicals I stay away from prime and stability and only use Tetra safe start plus...

    Introduction (sort of)

My smallest tetras are my embers and none of them have been fin nipped. They are a cool little fish that shoal together nicely. My glow lights are about the same size as cardinal tetra. I have not seen tuncano tetras. I had red eyed tetras, started out with 2 females and 3 males but in just a...

    Introduction (sort of)

I have a soft water tetra 55 gallon jungle tank where I have ember, neon and glow light tetras with albino cory. My tetras leave the cory alone but several of my neon tetras have had their fins nipped. I think they do it to each other or possibly the glow light tetra. I plan on replacing the...

    Multiple Tank Syndrome ?

My wife is holding me to four tanks but I will have a breeder tank for breeding tetras fry (ember and glow light) this summer for a short term project. My model room is in the basement which is where the fry tank will be. ;)

    Small scale breeding project.

I had started with 8 African Cichlid and ended up with over 50 fry that made it to adulthood in the first year or so. Like @Back in the fold said success is almost certain and I ended up giving them all away to friends and the LFS.

Worst case scenario - tank leaking!

I feel you pain, I know what it is like to have a tank leak. Last year my old 55 gallon tank sprung a leak, I was able to repair it but about 2 month or so it sprung another leak in the middle of the night and this time emptied over 20 gallons on my living couch and carpet. What a mess. I ended...

I also have a guppy tank, I keep the tetras in a soft water 55 gallon tank and my guppies in a 30 gallon hard water tank. I also have lots of guppy fry, they breed like rabbits. I wish I could get my tetra to have fry.

Our tank has begun....All natural no chemicals.

Looks like he likes his new "house" I have also rescued 2 cats, 3 dogs and 2 love birds over the years beside a large number of fish. The cats my daughters also brought home while in college. One lived until she was around 18 year old the other is about 13 years old.

That is good you improved things for these fish, when my kids were in college they brought home their share of fish that they "rescued'. I ended up taking care of them. I did not need to buy fish for years.
