One neon tetra much smaller than the others and not eating

Welcome to the forum :fish: :hi: :fish:Does the neon show any unusual sighs besides not eating? Have you tried grinding up the food into smaller pieces? Tried different types of food? How long has your tank been cycled? sorry for all the questions.

    Adopted some new fish

Do not judge all stores by one stores actions. We have a miejer here that has been open for a year and the girl that is primarily in charge of the fish is a fish keeper herself and has several tanks. She does a good job cleaning and feeding the fish. I have talked to her several times and miejer...

    Hand Sanitisers & Aquariums?

When I worked before I retired it was normal for me to use hand sanitizers, getting blood on your hands at an accident scene was normal. I would use sanitizers serveral times a day. But some of the sanitizers being used today feel a lot different and leave a residue which I never had to deal...

    Hand Sanitisers & Aquariums?

I have been trying to use only soap and water and avoid hand sanitizers except when I go out because I am always reaching into my tanks, It is sad the these accidents happen and fish and fish keepers have to suffer the results of trying to stay germ free. I had noticed a film on my hands after...

    So much hostility

I am sick of it too, today all I got in the mail today was political ads from both parties.

    Crayfish

As a kid I caught plenty of them using sting and chicken gizzards and guts. I do not know how rivers or ponds are down your way but up north you can catch them just about anywhere even in land locked small ponds. I kept one as a pet for awhile.

    Glofish Yes / No

I am not a fan of glofish, I prefer fish to have their natural colors. They do seem popular with kids.

    Moving house

It is a lot of work moving you tanks, I had the same issues when my old 55 gallon had a leak again and I bought a new 55 replacement not long ago. Pretty much the whole weekend was spent on working that mess out and I had 20 gallons of water spilled in my living room to deal with. This hobby can...

    Aqua Oak fish tanks

Trying toget them to breed , after the luck I had with the red eyed tetras I thought I would try it with my other shoals of tetras but they do not seem all that interested. When I had the castle in the 55 gallon tank they seemed to be in the mood often. :dunno:I guess the more natural...

    Filter confusion......

I tried to talk my son into having a tank. He is 27 but is not interested. I offered him a 10 gallon tank with all the set up that I have sitting empty in the basement plus some of my fish but no. He prefers to look at my tanks and does not want to have to"mess" with his own. When he was a young...

    Aqua Oak fish tanks

I am doing WC on my 29s and 20 today. The new 55 is working out and I am working on replacing most of the Java ferns with anubias. Some of the anubias leaves turned yellow. It maybe that they were grown on the surface and have to adjust to being submerged. I Have my water down to around 30ppm...

Since you are starting over I would suggest trying a planted cycle, Still work on the HOB but add some fast growing floating plants.

    QT tank

I have a 10 gallon QT tank and think it is big enough since the fish will be in there for the short term. Most LFS keep their fish in 10 gallon tanks around here. Petco and Petsmart have most of the fish they sell in 10 gallon except larger fish and feeder fish.

Super tiny bug-like things in tank?

Like @NCaquatics said they are common and usually show up in numbers when you over feed. They can also show up when a tank is not cleaned (vacuumed)regularly. We have all seen them from time to time.

    Moving house

I would dim the lights or even turn them off to help relax your fish. I do that when I add new fish to my tanks. Glad it sounds like the move worked out for you.

Need help with new 50 gallon tank

@AilyNC is correct, you should look at hard water fish. You can mix RO water to soften your water but it can be a lot of work. Soft water fish would suffer in hard water like yours and have shorten lives.

    Fishless cycling help

I have used Tetra Safe Start Plus which has the correct bacteria to jump start your tank, The small bottle handles tanks up to 60 gallons.
