Serpae Tetras Peoples thoughts and experiences

Thank you all for the quick replies. I was doing some researching which agrees and if I do buy them they will have their own tank maybe the 55 gallon since I only have 14 small tetras in it. I would move those 14 to the 30 gallon. I will look into the red phantoms. If I do end up with buying the...

Serpae Tetras Peoples thoughts and experiences

I was thinking of buying a new shoal of fish for my 55 gallon tank or my 30 gallon tank. I had seen some Serpae Tetras at the local pet store and I liked how they look and move together. I was thinking of buying at least 10. Currently I have a shoal of 10 ember tetras and 4 glowlight tetras in...

Planted fish tank tips for 60 gallon?

Moneywort and Pennywort is easy too. I like anacharis. When you first are starting out fast growing plants are the way to go until your tank is established. It soaks up the ammonia and other waste. My 55 gallon tank mostly has slower growing Anubis now since it is well established.

    Plastic's New Tank (230L)

Very nice looking tank, you should think about putting a background for the back of the tank.

Tetra - one or more types

I have 18 ember tetras and want to increase to 25-30 but the LFS ran out of them and it will be awhile before they stock more. I also have 7 glow-lite tetras which get along fine with the ember tetras in my 55 gallon tank. Ember tetras are my favorite tetra.

    Breeding Fish. What a surprise

I enjoy breeding fish, I tend to end up with a full tank of fry because I try and set the conditions just right for breeding. I have only 2 fish tanks now and one turtle tank. One is full of guppy fry which is easy. I am trying to have my ember tetras have a few in my 55 gallon tetra tank. When...

    Broken tank!

I would check at a glass store and see how much it would cost for them to make a replacement bottom.

When did you get into breeding fish?

About two years ago, I have guppies and platy which are easy. I also had lucked with red eyed tetras which are a little harder. Trying with embers and glowlight tetras lately but no luck so far.

    Congo puffer

Cool, I had a pea puffer many years ago, I did not have much information on it back then and it did not live more than a few months :( I now have done some research and maybe some day I will try again.

Moved my guppy tank to a new tank.

I moved my 30 gallon guppy/platy tank to a new tank and stand. I took some pictures to show you. I kept the gravel and items wet so the bacteria would not dry out. I also added lots of fast growing floating plants.

I'm changing up my tank a bit, adding new fish(es), and sand...

I moved my fish, heater, some of the water and some of the live plants to a 10 gallon tank while I worked on my 55 gallon tank. It did not seem to stress out the fish. I also kept them in the dark with a large towel so they slept most of the time.

Feeding my tetras some live mosquito larvae

My tetra line up at feeding time so the larvae are gone within seconds of hitting the water. They really go nuts from the larvae movements.
