    Suddenly, Snails??

What I would do is to remove any I see (unless desired, which I understand is not the case). The adults are easy to spot, the babies and egg masses much harder. You can also trap them using a jar and a piece of lettuce to other non-polluting food. Good luck!

    Suddenly, Snails??

That is a ramshorn snail (Planorbidae). Unrelated to mystery snails. It came into your tank inadvertedly, either as a small snail or as an egg mass, even if you did not see it (easy to miss). They lay gelatinous egg masses attached to surfaces below the water surface (bottom, sides...

My old betta developed this quickly, maybe fin fungus?

Not stress, fugus. And then, the fish may be stressed. Also, fungal infections do not necessarily happen as a result of of age. Age cannot be changed, but a fungal infection can be cured.

My old betta developed this quickly, maybe fin fungus?

It is a fungus but I would not describe it as fin fungus. In fact, it is in the caudal peduncle, and extends outwards including part of the caudal fin. Very likely started upon a wound in the body (even if small), and grew from there. At this time it s quite extensive but it should be stoppable...

    Moving a 20 Gal Tank 9.5+ hours

A bucket will be just fine for the fish (best are those that are completely smooth inside, not corners or ridges). A battery operated air pump (or using power outlet in car) will be useful to have an airstone going during the trip. Having a volume of freshwater (not with fish or plants) for one...

    What is this snail

Pest snails come large and small. Several genera in several families. Your snail is called by some, a rams horn snail (Family Planorbidae). Lays gelatinous egg masses everywhere, but inside the tank (unlike apple snails which do it out of the water). Cute and okay, as well as prolific. Not a...

    Ich? Or just Albino Cory?

Cleaning tank, elevating temp are common and effective methods. Some people also recommend salt. It is true that raising temperature speeds up the life cycle of ich. It is incorrect that it is a bacterial disease. Rather, the agent is a Ciliate (Eukaryota, that is with a nucleus and organelles).

    That looks like ich.

Is this normal for cryptocoryne wendtii?

I bet some Crypt species may do better with more light and CO2, but most common ones don't seem to need much. Below a "carpet" (loosely) of C. wendtii "bronze" in a 75g community. I did not try to carpet anything, it just takes over and I keep clearing some areas for other plants and for...

    Sick Cory?

They like groups alright, the more the merrier, providing the space is sufficient. However, I noticed a couple of things in the video, which you may want to consider. One of them potentially has to do with the apparently odd behavior of the single cory. The other has more to do with overall...

190G South America 6,5 Feet Tank

Beautiful tank! I would consider a small school (10-15?) of Colombian tetras. They are active, very colorful, boisterous but actually gentle, and will not bother any of the existing fish, nor your plants. Also they are easy to find and inexpensive. Being a bit larger, a group of them is quite...

    Box Filter: Filter floss

12 bucks is only the apparent cost. To get an incomplete glimpse of its actual cost, one needs to add the actual environmental cost of producing it (which itself for now it is only apparent), plus the cost of the damage it elicits once discarded. It is virtually indestructible, not recyclable...

    Box Filter: Filter floss

There is absolutely no need to discard dirty floss. It can just been rinsed. In addition, using a combination of sponge and ceramic media is best, and they can be rinsed for years without any waste or environmental impact. Floss is an environmental disaster, which is fully avoidable!

Wood positioning. What are your opinions? [Poll]

To me, position 3 is the most attractive (uses the nice wood to its potential), the others are nice, but less so. However, it all depends to a large extent on how else you fill up the tank (plants, rocks). I am partial to largish rounded-edge river stones as specimens. Good luck!

Hand held Laser Temperature gun-The ultimate thermometer

I love mine. It was very inexpensive as well. I do notice slight differences in readings taken pointing at the outside of an aquarium, versus directly into the water from above. Small difference, rather insignificant. For me, the big value and this is how I use it, is to determine whether two...

    Seaweed for fish

Without. However, salt would concern me less. Oils and seasonings are absolute no, no's.

    Fish Tank Transfer

Yes again to add fish immediately after move. Monitoring parameters and being ready for doing water changes if something off is detected would be necessary. You would have two well seeded filters from the get go (sponge and canister), which should be kept wet during the actual move. Good luck!

    Lace tail Tetra tail fungus?

Problems like that are not uncommon on "veil" or "lace" finned fish. I am not referring to bladder issues but to difficulty swimming, moving, resting in place (as in 'sleeping'), etc. with the long finnage. It takes extra energy to perform normal life while carrying all those draggy fins, which...

    Fish Tank Transfer

This may be a problem: e) Move the canister filter to the new residence and attach to the primary tank. I would have a 30-45 minute gap when the canister filter would be switched off and i am hoping it does not do a big damage to the beneficial bacteria's f) let it cycle for 2 days and keep...

PH to low ? Baking soda - fishless cycle

You may want to first determine what is the change of pH in your tap water from what it comes out of the tap, and what it settles down to 12 hours later in a clean water jug. Often, water contains a lot of CO2 when it first comes from the tap, which lowers the pH. If your water is indeed very...

    Seaweed for fish

Below are the two types of nori I have been feeding for years to my freshwater fish. I started doing mainly for my silver dollars, but my fish love them.
