Well if he is getting nitrite and nitrate readings I would suspect the presence of nitrifiying bacteria and so would also suggest no chlorine.

Don't use chemicals as you could inadvertently introduce that into the tank. Chuck they logs into your tank and introduce 2 x assasin snails. Hey presto, no more pest snails.

I presuming that is 30 gallons not 300. Are you using direct mains water or do you have a storage tank?

Pennywort is beautiful and very fast growing as is Hornwort. I have introduced Hornwort into my tank and it grows like mad and looks amazing.

I have the same filter but use a spray bar. The duckweed doesn't get sucked up with that in place.

Yes. He has lost control of his swim bladder. It happens commonly and is not realy treatable.

I use one at work all the time, surprisingly I have never used it to check my tanks.
