    Snake oil?

yep, for algae spread and free-floating algae something with more mature technology is definitely the way to go.

    Snake oil?

very interesting. Website seems to be legit and has it's own unique pictures, but it lacks any good evidence. They seem to have good intentions but functionality wise doesn't do much. I read some posts on other forums, and when put on an incorrect setting, it can actually crash your tank...

    aphids on lotus

Yes, we have some pesticide experts in our household and I know bifenthrin can kill everything. I'm sorry about your accident, I hope you can recover., What do you mean put plants in a tray? I have water lilies in the ground, do you mean floaters? I feed all the aphids to fish every single...

    aphids on lotus

alright, on my way to get a metal kiln right now! jokes aside, the ants only put aphids on leaves that are the same level water is on. i sprinlked egg shell powder on the rim of the pond so ants hopeflly won't crawl in, while I wait for diatom earth

    aphids on lotus

Hello, there are hundreds of aphids on my pond lotus every single day, even though I manually get rid of them every day. It seems that the ants are carrying them there. how should i fix this problem? will ant pesticides work?

    Restocking my tank

nice, any photos? keep an eye on the tank when adding new fish, because it could cause a mini cycle! I hope your new gourami is healthy! locally bred and not mass-bred fish will carry way less disaeses as well

Biotope aquaria vs 'candy' aquaria (and why I don't view bad content anymore)

I agree with this. Viewing the bad content gives those bad creators money, and they will think they are doing great instead of thinking they need to fix something.

    Restocking my tank

Boraras look like smaller harlequins (Boraras maculatus). but I'm really not a master at stocking, so I would consult someone else. I tend to understock a lot since I don't have a plan in mind when I start my tank :) If you are sure of non-inbred fish, go for it! I think colonies that are a few...

Maidenhead aquatics website vs Seriously Fish

i see, I guess all the big-box stores are like that. but it definitely has more variety than a general pet store, right? In the end, i still will prefer to stick to local and small businesses with better and more passionate staff.

can honey gouramis and cories survive just off nature

Yes, I am creating a tropical pond, and I have a tank indoors in case it rains. it gets around under 90 degrees (in scorching days) to around 70 (in cold days) in summer, under the shade of a tree. in fall and spring its all around 70. In winter it rains quite often and gets cold, so I can move...

can honey gouramis and cories survive just off nature

I have many types of bottom feeder food so I am not worried about them starving, but I am wondering how I can increase the amount of crustaceans? do ghost shrimp work? I can't have access to any other live continuously culturing foods sadly.

can honey gouramis and cories survive just off nature

Hello, I am setting up my pond build right now and im wondering if these guys need anything special to survive in the wilderness. Guppies and platies can survive because they eat the little flying gnats and i also feed them aphids sometimes. Is this sufficient for these fish? especially cories...

Black spots on Anubias nana Coin.

it will most likely go away in a while. since your tank is "relatively new" there are still a lot of silicates in the substrate. when those are all used up, diatoms will be rare. at least that is my observation.

seems to be diatoms or black beard algae. either way, use 2 fingers to try and rub the algae off. make sure to keep leaf in place while rubbing or it may rip. it's not a big problem because its easy to remove and doesnt cover the whole leaf

    hello to the forum members

nice, thats a chunky neon! Do you plan to get more? I think neil would get along well with my lonely rummynose! (I had 10 originally but they died in a horrible accident) I found that aquatic plants help with algae. Fast invasive plants such as all floaters and vallisneria outcompete the algae.
