I ended up getting 2 medium sized pieces of Malaysian driftwood and a nice sized rock to prop the wood on. I'm gonna let the wood soak until tomorrow to get rid of some tannins. Thanks again for all the help!

    Driftwood Tannins

I got 2 medium sized pieces of Malaysian Driftwood today so I could make a little cave for my clown pleco and I was wondering what I should do so I don't get too much tannin in my water. Thanks! I was soaking them for a bit and found a silverfish and 2 spiders in the wood so far

I'm making a little list for when I go to my LFS either tomorrow if I have time or in 2 days. So far I have Malaysian Driftwood, Pennywort (I wanted to get more for my 29 gallon), and try to find similar wood eater wafers. Is there anything I should add to that? Thanks for the help! Also, will...

Oh ok! I'll try to find some wafers that are similar! I'm thinking about getting some Malaysian Driftwood for the Pleco. I'll try to make a little driftwood cave area for him/her

Thanks! What are some other types of soft driftwood for him/her? I'm not a huge fan of spiderwood. It always seems to get this weird fungus on it Nicola is a cute name!

Ok! I can go out to get some more driftwood in 2 days. Would the pleco be ok until then? I have a piece of Malaysian driftwood I can give him. If 2 days is too long I can move some spiderwood from my Betta tank to the pleco's tank.

Haha! I found where he's hiding. I turned on the blacklight for my tank so it was dark for him. I saw his tail move and he's in a small cave under my driftwood :)

    First tank!

Welcome! :) Amazon Swords are great begginer plants if you want to try live plants. I agree with Bettafrog as well for the floating plants.

    Went to my LFS today...

Hmm now that I see the close up I'm not 100% sure it's Pennywort although it may be. It looks very similar. If it is then yes it should establish a good root system once it settles in.

I'm not sure why but I'm so nervous that somethings going to happen to him/her. I had gotten a pleco from my LFS about a year ago they had it labeled as a chocolate ancistrus. It sadly passed away overnight the first day I had him with blood coming out of its mouth :( Based off feedback from...

Thanks for the responses! I have 1 medium and 1 small piece of Mopani driftwood and 3 long skinny branches of spiderwood. Is that enough for him? I just want to make sure I'm not overstocking my tank if I do keep him.

I had been wanting to get a pleco for some time now. I don't think I have the room for one in my 29 gallon so I was going to wait until I had a larger tank. I had gone to a pet store today to get some food for my rabbit. While I was there I stopped to check out live plants in the fish section...

how to get an Amazon Sword to produce runners

Hello. I have had an Amazon Sword plant for a little over a year now. It is in my 29 gallon planted in sand with a bit of gravel. I use Seachem root tabs as fertelizer. I have a Nicrew Classic LED G2 Aquarium Light. Is there a way for me to get this plant to send out runners? Thanks!

How long does fish food last?

I feel too bad using the mystery snails or nerites but would the food have the some effect on mystery snails as it would on pond snails? I could use pond snails to test the food.
