It may just be me but don't blood parrots typically have tails? I don't know if it's just me but in the pics he seems to not have a tail. Is that normal? By the way you have a beautiful tank!

What size is the tank and what other fish do you have? If the Blood Parrot is turning black and is hiding in the cave like that he may be stressed. I am no expert though so I may be wrong.

I'm not 100% certain but I'm pretty sure if a blood parrot cichlid starts turning black then they are stressed. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong though.

Welcome to the forum! :) I'm not really sure what's wrong but I know other members will probably ask for this info. What size tank do you have? What is your current stocking? What are your water parameters? Is your tank cycled? I hope you are able to get a solution for the problem.

That's cool! The one in the pictures I posted lives in our neighborhood lake. She is very unique because whenever I go to the lake to watch the ducks or take pictures she walks up to you within a 2 to 3 foot range. That's how I get good pics of her.

I got a tiny water wisteria plant when I found it in a bag with a plant I had bought. That was over 3 months ago. The first 2 pictures are detritus worms but the third one kind of look like Hydra. I'm not exactly sure what they do but that's what they look like.

She had 2 batches of fry in the past. This was her third batch and she sadly didn't pull through after that last batch.

I have used Spider wood before. It is beuatiful wood. Only thing that happened to me was that it grew some wierd clear fungus and I had to hose it off every water change.
