more "Suckies"... don't these look angelical???

They do look so angelic! This is the only recent pic I have of my Bristlenose. Normally every time he’s out, I approach the tank with my phone to take a pic and he scarpers 😂 I guess he didn’t notice me here. His name is Pedro. This was when I first got him…

    White Spot outbreak

Thank you for the extra advice. I did a water test yesterday because I was worried about ammonia, having removed the active carbon. But it’s only risen to 0.5 so not too bad. The rest of the water parameters were fine. I did a big water change and gravel clean this evening and re-dosed with...

    White Spot outbreak

Thank you for this Colin. We lost the last eartheater today 😔 The temperature is currently sitting at about 28°c. The ingredients in the medication are: Formaldehyde Malachite Green Oxalate Methanol The white spots were covering his entire body, including the fins, but this didn’t show up...

    White Spot outbreak

He’s still quite young so still small, and the “irritation” you speak of is his natural colouring being a redhead. I don’t think it’s Epistylis because the spots do not protrude off of his body, and he has all the symptoms of Ich. The heavy breathing, the flashing/rubbing against objects etc...

    White Spot outbreak

Hi guys, I could use some advice from the experts. I noticed on Tuesday that two of my redhead eartheaters had developed white spots, and the third was flicking and rubbing himself against the substrate and rocks. They’ve been showing all the signs of Ich so I went straight out and got...

Reed/Rope fish - eating the others??

The new rope is tiny in comparison. I’m pretty sure they’re both female as they both have 10 spines. They’ve met, and the new one did get a little nip from the OG earlier.. but other than that so far so good. I’m just praying tonight goes ok..

Reed/Rope fish - eating the others??

Yes I have, even when we were feeding them the dry stuff I did see it eating. I always sit and watch them for a bit after I’ve fed them to make sure they’re all eating ok.

Reed/Rope fish - eating the others??

I’m sure all the fish have been healthy. I check on them everyday and I know the signs of them not being well or near death..

Reed/Rope fish - eating the others??

Update: After another week we had another molly go missing on Wednesday. Still no bodies found. Then today I get home from work and had my fears confirmed, I actually caught the rope fish in the act with another rainbow. We’ve been feeding them live/fresh foods rather than dry stuff but...

Reed/Rope fish - eating the others??

@Boundava Thanks for sharing! Your tanks are huge! I hope to upgrade to that sort of size eventually. I don’t know if they sell those brands of food here in the UK but it certainly gives some food for thought 😉 will have to google it I think.

Reed/Rope fish - eating the others??

This is reassuring. Do you feed them fresh/live food?

Reed/Rope fish - eating the others??

Ok - good to know, thank you. I may have to look at finding it a friend! Is it better to have the same sex or one of each? How easy is it to identify between males and females?

Reed/Rope fish - eating the others??

Thanks for all of your replies I will take them on board. @Ichthys the tank is normally full of decor/plants lots of hiding places, I took this pic during a tank clean/water change where I had briefly removed everything. I don’t think it’s stressed, or hasn’t shown signs of being so.

Reed/Rope fish - eating the others??

Hi all. As the title suggests really… 😅 We’ve had the reed fish in our community tank for a little over a month and our friend who works at the aquarium centre told us it would be fine in our tank, he’s got two and never had any problems blah blah blah… Our little ropey friend is still...

    Newbie

Hi everyone I’m new 👋🏻 Based in Kent, UK and I keep around 20 small/medium tropical fish in a community tank. I’m hoping this forum will answer any questions that might pop up as I’ve only been keeping fish for a couple of years, so not an expert, and still having to research quite a bit...
