    Sixty Gallon Journal

A little exaggeration 🤣🤣 but no you’re not wrong about how expensive they are. Just as an example, I’ve just looked up the prices of 288 litre aquarium from my LFS, (76 gallon - closest I could find) which range from £639.99 up to £1139.99. This does include the stand/cabinet for it to sit on...

We have these kind of colour variations quite often in our LFS

    What are you doing today?

Today hubby and I took the bikes out and rode to Brighton, stopped and had lunch at The Devils Dyke, some beautiful views there. Then home, showered, and now off round the parents for a Chinese 😋

    90L Dirted Planted Tank

Oh wow, ok! Thanks for the heads up. We’re definitely going to watch the behaviour of the fish in the store before we buy so hopefully if we find a peaceful one we will be ok 🤞🏻

    I’m worried about over crowding!!

Hi Davie, welcome to the forum 👋🏻 As a rule, for small fish, try to keep to one small fish per gallon to prevent overcrowding. Your 24 litre is about 6 gallons, so maybe think about moving the platies to one of the bigger tanks 🙂

    90L Dirted Planted Tank

Hi Matt. I’ve been reading your thread from the beginning, I was interested to see the full build. It looks awesome and is great seeing how far it’s come. I do have one question; what is WROD? Hubby wants to get Cherry Shrimp for the Betta tank so I’m just doing as much research as poss as we’ve...

    Sparx’ Tank Journey

Nope. I guess I just adapt my vocabulary depending on who I’m speaking to. A lot of aquarium discussions are in gallons.. I’ve learnt the conversion so I just use gallon on the forum.. and “apartment” sounds nicer than “flat” 😂

    Sparx’ Tank Journey

Hi @10 Tanks 👋🏻 Its been 22 months to be precise, but I guess that is a short amount of time compared to a lot of you on here, and having all condensed down into one post makes it seem like not much time at all! 🙂 The smaller tanks are good for me and hubby at the moment, we’re just starting a...

    Sparx’ Tank Journey

So the most recent edition to the 30g is the gouramis, and they are getting quite big now! The pic above shows them after we’d had them for like a week, all three were roughly the same size, but the little guy at the top of the pic was slightly smaller than the other two. Now the size...

    Tank no.2: 10g planted

Yeah we did a bit of research and decided 10g would be best, apparently you can keep them in a 5g but in my opinion that would be too small, especially trying to aquascape with such little room. Good tip when selecting the Betta, thank you 👍🏻 I will take that on board. What other fish did you...

    Tank no.2: 10g planted

So I’ve mentioned in a couple of other threads that hubby wanted to get a little 10g tank, he wants this for a Male Betta and some shrimp. To be honest.. him talking about it and actually going ahead with it, I didn’t expect it would happen. Not so soon anyway! But this afternoon he dragged me...

Is this Black Beard? Or something else?

Sorry for the confusion @Essjay, I was saying I was thinking about moving the cherry barbs out of the 30 gallon and into a to a 10 gallon, and the Siamese algae eaters would go in the 30 gallon. But I’ve decided against that idea anyway.

Gold fish pregnant or signs of swim bladder?

I’m referring to brine shrimp and bloodworm. He got them from Swallow Aquatics in Gravesend if you fancy making the trip over 🙂

Gold fish pregnant or signs of swim bladder?

They actually said they’d had a problem with their supplier for the last couple of months, and it’s not just them he said it’s the same for their other branches as well. Something about having the right code to transport live product 🤷🏼‍♀️ But I had live food just last week - I asked hubby and...

Is this Black Beard? Or something else?

No, that’s actually really helpful too. I wouldn’t want to get a new fish just for this and then it ends up starving. I guess I can be a bit of a perfectionist/ borderline hypochondriac and if I spot something new or untoward I need to know what it is and what I need to do to sort it 😅 …

Upgrade from 10 gal to 20 gal

It’s nice that’s she’s getting into the hobby and it’s something you can do together. Since hubby and I first got ours, we had a 15 gallon first then upgraded to a 30 gallon, he’s been interested but has had little involvement apart from coming with me to pick out fish. But now he’s suggesting...

Is this Black Beard? Or something else?

That’s actually really helpful, thanks Colin. I guess I haven’t really got anything to be concerned about then! 🙂 I showed the pics to a guy at out LFS today, he said it looks like hair algae. He recommended Siamese algae eaters to help with it but I don’t want my tank getting too overstocked...
