    Betta Coccina photos!

My goal is to breed them, though I haven't managed that yet. They might just be young, but if they've not bred in a few months, then I'll look into making my water more acidic for them.

    Betta Coccina photos!

I finally managed to take some semi-decent photos of my Betta Coccina pair. Don't mind the lack of blackwater, it's now super dark for them! I'm planning on putting the male in a small tank with good lighting to photograph him, so you can really get to see his colors- they're quite washed out in...

    Distilled water question

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I usually don't like messing with my parameters much, but my Coccinas are special to me. They normally live in very acidic water, and are also endangered. And I'm pretty sure they're doing great in my water, but my goal is to breed them, and I'm not very...

    Distilled water question

As some of you already know, I recently got some Betta Coccina. My ph is 6.5 and my GH and KH are quite low too, but I want to lower them a bit more. I'm thinking about doing 1/4 or 1/3 distilled water, I'll experiment (not in the tank obviously), and I'll see what works best. My question is...

    A Walstad Tank...

What fish will you put in it? l'm also starting a semi-walstad tank (won't follow the ''ecology of the planted aquarium'' book exactly, but l'll be doing something very similar. It's going to be a red cherry shrimp tank.

Got some cherrys, but they have Ellobiopsidae....

Got a happy update for anyone following this thread! Out of the 6 shrimp, 5 are completely ok and have no signs of ellobiopsidae anymore. 3 of those have already molted, and l'm waiting for the other 2 to molt too to release them to the main tank. There's one shrimp that's getting worse, which l...

    Badger's Sumatran Rice Paddy

It appears as a cent on my phone lol. That's weird. As to the tank.... I'd personally not take it down. It's the only tank built that I've ever been able to follow from beginning to end, and I think it's an amazing setup. But that's probably because rice paddies/ peat swamps are my favourite...

    Tank Bred or Wild Caught

Tank bred. Simply because l don't like the thought of taking them from their natural habitat. My Betta Coccina are just f1, so they're probably just as healthy as wild caughts, but a bit more tolerant on water conditions.
