Unfortunately by the time symptoms of dropsy show it can often be too late. You may never know the cause. The kindest thing to do would be to euthanise her as dropsy is thought to be painful.

I've kept ADF's for years, had one live to 8 but haven't had the same luck with my newer batch unfortunately. The only thing I would say is 5 gallons is quite small, and they prefer being kept in larger groups. They're very trainable when it comes to feeding but lots of patience is needed!
