You might try Vallisneria. It grows fast and tall, and spreads out on the surface.

You may have to call more than one LFS to find a taker. I once tried to trade a surplus of superworms for plants at my LFS. The guy got extremely agitated with me. He wanted the superworms, but didn't want to give me anything, not even plants, in exchange. Very strange.

It sounds like they were collected from the wild. If so, what is your technique? It would take me hours to get that many using my methods.

I've collected them from time to time. If you feed them, they do ok. I've never had reproduction or even kept them for very long, mostly because I have lost interest after a while.

Last summer, I caught a few native grass shrimp, sometimes called glass shrimp. They're in kind of an ugly tank, but I've managed to keep them alive on cory wafers. Does anybody else keep these? I'd appreciate tips on feeding, housing, breeding, etc.

They are sunfish- they look like greens or bluegills. Sunnies are neat aquarium fish, but check your state fishing regulations about keeping them. They are generally regulated as game fish.
