When did you start up the 55 gallon tank that is hazy? I have experienced bacterial blooms in most of my tanks soon after cycling was complete. It was always a transient phenomenon that required no intervention.

I had 9 platys (5 females) in a tank. At first I was thrilled to be raising fry. It was a first for me. However it got old rapidly. Each month I was netting young juveniles and bringing them to my lfs. I finally re-homed the females.

The fish flakes are generating ammonia, and that is good. But you do not have a conversion of ammonia into nitrite despite the Fluval bio enhancer product. The conversion should begin soon. I prefer Tetra Safe Start over the fluval product. It works rapidly.

Ha ha. The aquarium’s focus is salt water. It had only a few freshwater and brackish water displays: discus, angels and tetra, bass and rainbow trout. You should check it out sometime.

I’m on a road trip to visit Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas. We are trying to visit all 50 states. After this trip, I will have only three more states to go. Had fantastic barbecue in Kansas City Missouri today. Probably the best barbecue I ever had, including my own efforts with my smoker.
