Bad Experience with Trazodone for Dogs - A Cautionary Tale (tail)

Thank you. He has a nice personality too but also a very strong willed, mixed in with an extremely strong herding instinct that makes him a real challenge.

    Regulating tank temperature?? HELP!!

OK if your temp drops that far at night but then goes back up it is likely where you have the heaters plugged in are shutoff in the evening. Just a suggestion but I have seen wall sockets that are tied to a switch used to turn off a lamp or other device that is plugged in. You go to bed at...

Bad Experience with Trazodone for Dogs - A Cautionary Tale (tail)

I have had a number of dogs over the years and this is the first time we actually had a cone after the neutering/spaying. Overall my impression was the cone was a bit cruel, not to mention the bruising to our legs from the dog running into us. Just glad it is over.

Bad Experience with Trazodone for Dogs - A Cautionary Tale (tail)

We asked about a onesie and the vet said that the male dogs don't do well with it. It has been a few days now and the pup is behaving more or less normally. That is, he is still badly behaved but is friendlier about it now.

Bad Experience with Trazodone for Dogs - A Cautionary Tale (tail)

My little puppy, actually 50 lbs of energetic Australian Shepherd, was neutered a week and a half ago. As part of the process he needed to get a cone to prevent him from damaging the incision, additionally, I was supposed to keep his activity level down and keep him on a lead at all times. The...

Stick with the advice above. I just have to ask how did the Xanax actually get into the tank? What was the person's thought process, was it a youngster? Just curious.

Doesn't look like any algae I ever saw in my tanks. I would leave it be until you ID it, looks interesting.

    Dandelion root "coffee"

Interesting thread. You should look for chicory, it is found in Wyoming, though not super abundant. It is super easy to find when blooming because there are not many plants with the same blue flower. You might want to try anything with hibiscus in it, it has a refreshing flavor when cold.

I can totally relate to this statement. My Aussie pup will not let us put our shoes on without trying to run away with them or pulling on the laces.

Do pleco’s typically jump out of tanks???

Sorry you lost your fish. I almost lost a bristlenose because it held on to a piece of driftwood I removed. Found it at the bottom of the bucket when I was cleaning up. Just offer another suggestion to the flight one.

Corydoras eggs - Fertile or not?

Never bred corys but I would say the clear eggs are viable and the milky ones are not fertilized or dead.

It seems it worked a little too well...

FYI 283 is the Total Dissolved Solids based on the conductivity of the water with that tester. It will correlate with the general hardness but it is only an estimate. When I use my TDS sensor I get about 75 ppm higher reading than if I use a general hardness test. And if I add fertilizer the...

going to try some mini pumps, for water changes on my 10 gallon holding tanks...

I used pumps for a short time from the buckets to the tank when I used that method. I used a small pond pump for this and they worked ok. You do have to watch the smaller pumps, I had some micro pumps that could not get the water into the tank at all. Their pumping ability depends on the...

In what way your water flows trough your medias in your Filter ?

If I had as many tanks as @GaryE I would use air powered filters just for the convenience of it. My canisters start with the basic coarse foam they provide then, through a bacterial substrate, whatever I have on hand (ceramic shapes of some sort). Additionally I always like to have a...

    Was sand the worst idea?

A lot of people recommend play sand for substrate. It can be an alternative to expensive specially processed sand. I have used it. But there is no specification of what play sand really consists of, additionally it is a heavy item and companies that produce aggregates ship as little as...

Fluval Flex 15 gallon build thread

My first attempt with shrimp where with an orange variety. They were not very hardy and 50% died. I then got the normal red ones and they took off. The fancier varieties seem to not do as well as the reds. Now I have a mixture of reds, blues, and orange varieties, the young from this group...

I don’t want my angel to die :(

Definitely doesn't look well, though I am not the best for fish diseases. Thoughts and Observations: 1. Your water looks a little murky that could be the meds 2. You have given antibacterials but they haven't seemed to help 3. I don't know what aquacare general tonic is but it seems like it...

    Bloodworm allergy

What about just putting some gloves on when handling the frozen blood worms. You may be able to rinse them after each use so you don't need new gloves each time. I don't have the allergy, but I am also pretty immune to bug bites (no pun intended).

    Clams anyone???

This is one of the types of creatures that could be a problem environmentally. It is known as an invasive species. North American freshwater clams have reducing habitats. I would not bring these into my aquariums.

    Sand as Substrate

I have had tanks go cloudy for up to 10 days give or take after setting up with a new sand substrate. It does settle eventually. Most filters you can add what is known as a polishing filter to them to remove real fine particles. If you have lighting on, I find you get an algae bloom. The...

What's this white anemone-looking thing in my tank?

I cannot think of anything that you describe that would hurt your fish. I would leave them alone and allow yourself the opportunity to view another type of animal. If I found them in my tank I would leave them as is. It kind of looks like that but Hydrogen Peroxide carries an extra oxygen...

    Has anyone used this product?

I haven't, though I wonder about this type of treatment. If you have too much algae in the tank I usually associated that with too much light or nutrients or both. Killing off the algae does not deal with the issue but temporarily covers it up. I have had tanks similar to yours in regards...

    Holiday feeding

This is one of the best ideas I have seen for feeding. I do use feeders as I sometimes go away for longer than two weeks. I use the EHEIM feeder and they seem to work good with pelleted food. I don't fully trust them though so I set them to give 1/2 to 3/4 what I normally feed the fish. I...

    Wobbly tank cabinet

If you are sure the cabinet is correct then I would put shims under the cabinet where the space is. Ideally I would find level first, but if the tank is already up and filled it can provide level for you. If you don't have shims anything you can put under to prevent the wobble will help. Keep...
