Either nijjensi or panduro would be my guess though i suppose if young enough inka - people should stop using genus name to describe a fish ;) - good luck.

Opal vs Blue vs Yellow a. Borellii

I think the curiosity level has remained the same what has changed is the number of non-curious people entering the market so the 'relative' market (or % of people who are curious) has changed.

Opal vs Blue vs Yellow a. Borellii

Wish you could import borelli these days; they do range into columbia and other areas - as they are one of the more adaptable species in the wild.

Opal vs Blue vs Yellow a. Borellii

opal refers to the face not the body colouring. This is the opal i have: My understanding is both opal and non opal do occur in the wild though the opal are not very common. Sadly you can't buy wc borelli these days (brazill won't export them and while they occur in other regions outside...

    125 gallons tank

As for SAE to be honest in a 125 i would keep just one - they might be small and cute now but in a year they will be fairly large and a group of 6 can probably not be sustained in a 125 esp with an inexperience fish keeper. These fishes aren't super delicate but they do have specific needs that...

    125 gallons tank

Look fellow that is uncalled for - the issue is that i'm experienced and you are not. There are a lot of problems with your current stocking and i only pointed out a few - others are going to call out some of the other issues. You can take the advice or ignore it (i think you are going to ignore...

    125 gallons tank

Before you add more fishes i would fix things so they are compatible. You ahve hard water fishes, soft water fishes, sa fishes, asian fishes. Also you really don't want to mix platy with swordtails under any circumstance as they will cross breed creating an even muckier fish than most domestic...

These angels are extra spendy… are they worthy???

Well I think i'll stick with wetspot and my list of specialty sellers. 95% of what i buy these days are wc dwarf cichild though given that all my aquariums are full at this point i'm not buy a lot - in fact i only have 3 fishes on my current list and they are all true blackwater fishes. Hum...

    Sparkling Gourami, makes surprise visit

Yea i know 3 months; it happens. Anyway not sure of the point of your link; when they say 'pair' they mean m/f but if you buy a random fish it is 50% the same sex.... hence my comment. They are difficult to sex though i do have 3 males and a lovely female...

These angels are extra spendy… are they worthy???

I don't remember fer sure but Dan might be one of those places that automagically raises the price to max if stock is low. Of course if that is the case it is pretty slimey.

    Sparkling Gourami, makes surprise visit

Most of the fishes i buy - which i admit are dwarf cichild; hide until they learn the behavior of their tank mates. I had one pair hide for 4 weeks. Truth be told most of the fishes i buy would do better in a spieces only tank but that is off topic. As for a friend - well 2 are for fighting a...

These angels are extra spendy… are they worthy???

https://www.wetspottropicalfish.com/product/pterophyllum-leopoldi/ ($25 for small ones wc); you can get 6 inch wc rio demerara angelfishes for $75 @ tangleup. To be honest i dont' care for Dan's marketing or practices. His fishes might be healthy but stuff which I can breed like bunny rabbits...

These angels are extra spendy… are they worthy???

No. Also are these Leopoldi which are 'dwarf angelfishes' or dwarf Leopoldi. Worse they are tank raised so you actually have no clue what the breeder has done to their genetics. Personally I think the cost is in the fancy name.

Starting up my small aquatic plant business, this is the journal.

To be honest she would have done much better with a better selection of plants; for example various species of nurii rosen sell for quite a bit yet i have like 50 to 100 of them growing wild in one of my (non co2) aquarium. This comment is really being made as advice for those who try to do the...

At what point do the long fins effect quality of life, for a fish???

I think to answer the ops question one would have to first define what is 'quality of life for a fish'; esp in the aquarium. Then there could be all sort of side debate - is an angelfish better off having long fins but a 500 gallon aquarium or short fins but a 29... live food or dry food...

I'm sick and tired of people talking about the 'PH' a fish needs

Yea 21 micro thingy. That's what i use pure RO/DI water.... it is in the 8-10 range out of the ro system. These are blackwater fishes - they love very clean acidic water. They hate smelly old water. They are adorable couple who deserve the purist ;) My only surprise is how well the plants do.

I'm sick and tired of people talking about the 'PH' a fish needs

I don't know but i just measured the EC of one of my aquariums. It was a massive 21. That means I have 21 points of garbage polluting my water :( Probably at least 5 of those points is your spit ;) (the 21 is an accurate reading unless the pen is out of calibration) And yes plants grow just...

Marimo algae balls… what are these steel wool, of the plant world, and how do they fit in our aquariums???

No; but i did have a small aquarium in the bathroom and he did pour tooth paste in it every day; about a month after they all died he said he was "running an experiment to see how much toothpaste they could handle" or something like that. I was really angry but he was bigger than me so there...

Marimo algae balls… what are these steel wool, of the plant world, and how do they fit in our aquariums???

In a couple of my tanks i get this wool like algae growing on rocks and such - i can't comment on if it grows easier or harder than plants but it is rather uncommon among my aquariums so i'm going to presume it is harder or needs special conditions - i'm not sure what it is called but you can...
