    Wild crayfish help please

At least it's not an octopus, lol. I actually kept a couple in a half full 10 gallon in an elementary classroom for a couple of years. The half full was to prevent escape. King cray ate the other one over spring break

Glo fish where does it end????

it ends when no one buys them. I am about to the point of not buying any fish anymore. Kinda like the cutesy betta bowls Pennplax came out with around 2003 and the stupid gumball machine aquarium that won a prize at the trade show - less than a gallon and very little oxygen exchange. The trade...

Is it worth emptying a tank to get rid of snails?

I've been squishing, zucchini squash did not work, although the clown pleco and albino bristle nose enjoyed it. I'll try the cucumber. where are they hiding their eggs?

What would you tell your past newbie-at-fishkeeping-self if you had the chance?

I don't know. I think mine ate each other. I had neon tetra disease going at the same time, that or they got old and died. Been a couple of years

    How’s the weather?

SlapHappy - the DFW forecast has one day below 100 in the next 10 days, and that is today. I finally got half an inch of rain, mesquite will bloom soon, there will be a fall honey harvest.

    fishkeeping books.

I have Aquarium Atlas by Baensch and Riehl - Copyright 1982/1986. I'm not sure if this 1, 2, 3 or 4, but it's a good book. I've used it for years

What would you tell your past newbie-at-fishkeeping-self if you had the chance?

    Ways to lower water ph

we have high pH in a lot of Texas, I know people that breed angels at 8.0 for sure.

What would you tell your past newbie-at-fishkeeping-self if you had the chance?

I'm struggling too. I went to a plant swap, got some plants, rinsed both in the sink, and one in the 55 must have had ONE snail egg. That snail has done a fine job of building population. The plant in with my trilineatus cories didn't have a snail egg.

What would you tell your past newbie-at-fishkeeping-self if you had the chance?

rinse plants very thoroughly or your tank will get snails. I was not thorough enough

    High PH battle

In the bucket test, sometimes what goes up is the GH before the Ph does. 5 way test strips are the easiest way to monitor this kind of testing. a small seashell can do exactly what you are describing. Reef rock or old dead coral ornaments are often guilty as well

    fishkeeping books.

my favorite is The Complete Fishkeeper by Joseph Levine. Out of print quite a while, but it answered questions I did not know I had. I had the library copy for about a month. Couple of years later ordered on amazon and it was some other library's cull. Doesn't matter to me

    Many generations of guppy inbreeding

I hadn't bought guppies since probably 2005? eventually no pretty colors so in 2020 I added a male back in from the original group that had been at a friend's since 2017, and I got a little color. bought 2 fancy males in early 2022 and i have a lot of color now. Except the deformed spine that...

recycled / tumbled glass for substrate???

there was a company pushing actual glass aquarium gravel 20 years ago. I think I kept their samples for art projects. If the edges are irregular, bottom feeders are likely to be injured, if very smooth, no bacterial adhesion. I wouldn't.
